LOS ALAMITOS, CA—AUGUST 9, 2019—Dee and Gary Hoovestal's Bos Time Machine flew late from the outside post to edge Ruben Magallanes' Corona B Gone by a head in the $15,000 Catchmeinyourdreams Handicap at 350 yards on Friday at Los Alamitos.

With Carlos Huerta in the irons for trainer Paul Jones, Bos Time Machine was third at the start and trailed the flying Corona B Gone by nearly half a length during the early going. The two continued to battle for the lead along with the mare Splendid Cause. She eventually dropped out of contention after drifting out, making it a two-horse race between Bos Time Machine and Corona B Gone.

"It was kind of tight," Jones said. "(Corona B Gone) had a big lead on (my horse). We just ran him down right at the wire. Bos Time Machine has won two in a row. He's real sharp right now. Carlos Huerta has done a great job riding him. He really fits him well. Tonight he didn't break quite as sharp as he did the time before, but he really finished well. We're really happy for the Hoovestals. He's turning out to be a nice horse."

A 3-year-old facing older foes, Bos Time Machine entered this race after daylighting a field of $25,000 claimers. Earlier this year, the Idaho-bred gelding by Bodacious Dash finished third in the James Smith Memorial Handicap to Singles Cruise on April 7.

He then finished seventh to Golden State Derby fastest qualifier Chocolatito in the Dillingham Handicap. The out of the money finish led to Bos Time Machine's placement in a claiming race, which he dominated by 1 ¼ lengths back on June 30. Following his latest winning effort, the Mark and Peggy Brown-bred runner could find himself in a few more stakes tussles.

"We'll have to take a look (at his future races)," Jones added. "We'll take a look at these kind of races and see what our options are."

Bos Time Machine earned $8,250 for the win to take his career bankroll to $35,497. He also improved to five wins in 11 outings.

Owner Gary Hoovestal hails from Montana and grew up admiring everything about horses. By the time he was 10 Gary had his first horse, which he use to rope calves in local rodeos. During his junior year in high school in 1956, Gary finished second in bull riding at the National High School Rodeo in Reno, Nevada.

Ridden by Erasmo Gasca for trainer Hector Magallanes, Corona B Gone earned $3,375 for his runner-up effort in the Catchmeinyourdreams. The 4-year-old Oregon-bred gelding by Favorite Cartel was making his first start since February. He arrived for this race after a couple of strong efforts at Portland Meadows.

Elicity, Mr Secret Glory and Splendid Cause completed the field.
