BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 17, 2022—Coming off an allowance win in his last start December 1st, A Nother Zoobilee was much the best today when he rolled over the field in an $11,000 400 yard feature Allowance for 3-year-olds and up at Louisiana Downs.
Under jockey David Alvarez, A Nother Zoobilee posted a 2-¼ length win while completing the 400 yards in :19.600 seconds, a 104 speed index. It was the fifth win 20 starts for the multiple graded-placed son of Dashin Bye. The $9,000 winner's purse boosted his lifetime mark to $118,370.
Rosendo Valdez Jr. trains the 7-year-old for owner Joel Torres. Two races back the brown gelding was third in the restricted Grade 2 $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Classic at the Fair Grounds. Charles Lyles bred A Nother Zoobilee from the Streakin La Jolla mare Our Precious Secret.
Runner-up Corona Louisiana Blu earned $2,200 for finishing second. Trainer Trey Ellis conditioned the 6-year-old son of Jess Louisiana Blue for owner-breeder Tom H. Selman. Juan Garcia, Jr., had the riding call aboard the stakes-placed gelding out of Corona De Estrelas by Corona Cartel. The gray has eanred $44,786 in 23 career starts.
Ranger The Stranger finished 3-½ lengths back to pick up $1,210 for third-place. Trainer Jose Carrizales named Arturo Alvarez to ride the Texas-bred son of Mighty B Valiant for owner Daniel Madrid. J Bar 7 Ranch LLC, bred Ranger The Stranger from the Salt Lake (TB) mare Misty Lake (TB). He has earned $132,900.
Completing the field were Rdd Empire Builder and Diamante Sign Jess. Journeys First Star was scratched.
Live Quarter Horse racing will be conducted Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday through March 2. Beginning Sunday, March 6, the schedule changes to Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Two Thursday race cards will be added for the final two weeks of the season. Post time will be 1:00 p.m. (Central).
