Shake It Open Sires Trifecta in Iowa Stallion Derby at Prairie Meadows

ALTOONA, IA—AUGUST 28, 2010—Karen and Brent Clay's Shake Em Streakin led a trifecta of three-year-olds sired by Shake Em Open to win the $37,500 Iowa Stallion Derby by a neck on Saturday evening at Prairie Meadows.

The home-bred gelding covered the 400 yards, under jockey Stormy Smith, in :19.936 seconds to win by a neck and pick up the winner' s purse of $15,000.

Saddled by Brent Clay, Shake Em Streakin is by Shake Em Open out of the Streakin La Jolla mare Miss Fine La Jolla.

Finishing a game second was Shelley Coldwell Goodnight's home-bred Mean Fastball. Robert Dimitt saddled the filly with Cody Smith riding. She earned $6,375 for the effort.

Lewis Horn's home-bred Yawls Flashem Open finished a half-length back for third. Trained by Ed Hardy, the sorrel gelding was ridden by Lucas Constantin and earned $3,750.

Completing the field were Shake Em Finale, Ac Shake N Brod, Trs Hotshot Adam, Trs The Chase Is On, Trs Melodys Boy, First Down Maze and Iza Cruisin. First Prize Shake was scratched.
