Q-RACING JOUNRAL—APRIL 3, 2014—Racehorse and sire Raise A Secret, 31, was euthanized on March 27 due to complications of old age, according to owner Dr. David Moss’ Northside Large Animal Clinic in West Haven, Utah.

Bred by Charles Socolofsky of Scott City, Kansas, Raise A Secret was purchased as a 3-year-old by Ed Allred. Raise A Secret started 12 races over three years. He won eight, including the Dash For Cash Futurity (G1) and Los Alamitos Futurity (G1), and earned $705,483.

He was by L’Natural (TB) and foaled out of the Alamitos Bar mare Ala Secret Sue, and is a half brother to stakes winner Duplicate Secret (by Will Win, $108,808).

As a sire, Raise A Secret sired 20 crops to race. From them, he got 432 winners from 609 starters (71 percent) and 43 stakes winners (7 percent), and the earners of more than $10.8 million. He stands at No. 40 on the all-time sires by money earned list, and No. 43 on all-time sires by winners.

Among his top runners were champion Secret Card ($367,115); Grade 1 winners Kingman Kid ($531,365), Luva Secret ($346,856), Brotherly ($304,508) and Twelvie ($276,950); and six-figure earners Make A Secret ($267,605), Dicey Secret ($203,666), Pride Of Katella ($199,187), Bridlewood ($191,359), Templetonian ($179,823), Girl Secrets ($177,552), Sables Secret ($155,081), Easily A Secret ($140,814), My Son Jeremy ($120,621), Daggers And Darkness ($117,611) and Sneaky Fast ($112,865).

The stallion was one of the top broodmare sires in the sport, and currently sits at No. 13 on the all-time broodmare sire list by money earned. Among the runners to his credit is All American Futurity (G1) winner No Secrets Here ($1,637,095), who is out of his daughter Dicey Secret.

Raise A Secret was pensioned from stud duty in 2007.
