TQHA Sale Futurity Winner Cartels Pop Pop Retired

WEATHERFORD, TX—NOVEMBER 2, 2016—The 2015 TQHA Sale Futurity (RG2) winner Cartels Pop Pop has been retired and will join Scarlett Hill Farm, Inc.'s 2017 stallion roster in Weatherford, Texas. The son of leading second crop sire The Louisiana Cartel will stand for $1,500, with discounts.

Owned by Chad and Esmeralda Peck, Cartels Pop Pop won or placed in five-of-five starts as a two-year-old and won the restricted Grade 2 $413,776 TQHA Sale Futurity at Retama Park. In two seasons at the track he compiled a (9) 2-1-2 record and earned $191,509.

His sire, The Louisiana Cartel, is currently the #2 Second Crop Sire of Money Earners this season with nearly $2 million. His paternal grandsire is the Leading Living Sire of Money Earners Corona Cartel.

Cartel Pop Pop hails from the family of one of Texas' "blue hen" famies. His dam, Oaks Trees Pop Pop, by leading broodmare sire Oak Tree Special, is a RG1 finalist. She is the dam of 2 ROM winners including Cartels Pop Pop SI 92 (see above) and Panthers Pop Pop SI 93 ($11,415).

The second dam is stakes-placed track record setting Bobby Que mare Gotta Pop Pop SI 110, dam of 16 ROM winners from 17 starters, 3 stakes winners including Grade 2 winner Jodies Pop Pop SI 103 ($183,332), RG2 winner Gotta Special Pop SI 100 ($84,312), Jody Pops Little Sis SI 98 ($60,567), etc.
