WAYNE, OK–JULY 2, 2023–Royal Vista Ranch, Inc. announced today Whitmire Ranch has purchased and 2023's leading first-crop sire Flying Cowboy 123 from Paragon Farms, LLC.
"We are so excited to add Flying Cowboy 123 to our program," Raymond Whitmire said. "Mr. Lipar and everyone at Granda Farms has done a fantastic job with Cowboy. We look forward to watching all of his foals future success."
The two-time champion son of leading sire Apollitical Jess will join the Royal Vista Ranch, LLC stallion roster in 2024. His fee will be announced later.
"We are very happy to have such a great addition to our stallion roster with Flying Cowboy 123," said Royal Vista owner Cole Morehead. "We are very appreciative of the Whitmire’s for allowing us at Royal Vista to stand him in Oklahoma."
Flying Cowboy 123 is the current leading first-crop sire of money earners and stakes winners for 2023. From 72 starters he has sired 27 winners, 6 stakes winners and 5 stakes-placed (16%), earners of $1,018,340 and average earnings per starters of nearly $15,000 through June 30, 2023.

His top performers include Jess Flying Cowgirl SI 105 (Winner at 2, $187,064 Sam Houston Futurity-G2), R Cowgirl SI 95 (4 wins at 2, $128,206 Speedhorse Graham Paint and Appaloosa Futurity-G1), Double Down 123 SI 96 (Winner at 2, $118,263 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity-G2), Woopaa123 SI 94 (3 wins at 2, $110,863 Old South Futurity), Cardiac Cowboy SI 98 (3 wins at 2, $87,657, Heritage Place Futurity-G1 finalist), Jess A Rednec Cowboy SI 98 (2 wins at 2, $61,952 Easy Jet S.-G3), Kj Flying Cowgirl SI 100 (Winner at 2, $38,877 West Texas Futurity-G2), B Second Cowboy SI 97 (2 wins at 2, $34,491, finalist Sam Houston Futurity-G1), Fire Cowboy SI 94 (Winner at 2, $32,289 2nd-Sam Houston Juvenile Challenge S.-G3), etc.
Flying Cowboy 123 is also the 2023 leading sire of sale yearlings (by average 2 more sold) with six short-yearlings that sold at the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale for a $35,750 average.
Named the AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-Old Colt in 2018 and Champion 3-Year-Old Colt in 2019, Flying Cowboy 123 won or placed in 11 of 13 career starts and earned $951,811. He won the Texas Classic Futurity(G1), Texas Classic Derby(G1) was third in the All American Derby, Rainbow QH Futurity and a finalist in the Rainbow QH Derby.
His sire Apollitical Jess has sired 626 winners, 123 stakes winners (13%), earners of over $61 million and average earnings per starter of more than $63,500, including the 2022 AQHA Racing World Champion Empressum.
Out of the Takin On The Cash mare Hot Cash 123, Flying Cowboy 123 is a half-brother to three black-type including world champion Cold Cash 123 SI 106 ($1,409,781), Rainbow Juvenile winner Tough Dynasty 123 SI 93 ($54,320), Lady Eagle 123 SI 93 ($23,000 at 2, dam of Los Alamitos Juvenile runner-up R Ladys Dynasty SI 93 ($88,279 to 3, 2022), etc.
Flying Cowboy 123 stood to a full book in 2023 for a fee of $5,600 at Granada Farms.
