All About Larry Gets New Track Record in Red Cell Championship

ALTOONA, IA—OCTOBER 27, 2012—Fresh off a track record-setting performance in the Red Cell Lone Star Distance Challenge in Texas, Diane Heath’s All About Larry put on an encore performance at Prairie Meadows in the $125,000 Red Cell Distance Challenge Championship (G1) to kick off the six featured events in the Bank of America Racing Challenge Championships.

The 5-year-old gelding by Heza Motor Scooter covered 870 yards in :44.581 to set a new standard at the Iowa track as he rolled to victory by 5 ¼ lengths with a 109 speed index. L. Salvador Martinez rode the Arizona-bred for trainer John Stinebaugh.

“He’s a monster,” said the trainer. “The others were pushing and shoving and trying to save ground, but nobody can catch this horse.”

All About Larry enjoyed some success while running on the straightaway but has turned into a superstar going around the turn. His last three victories at 870 yards have come by a combined margin of 24 lengths, and he has won seven of nine starts at 870 or 1,000 yards. This was the biggest victory of the gelding’s career and improved his overall record to 10 wins from 21 starts with earnings of $158,780. Las Vegas Ranch bred All About Larry out of the Shoot Year mare Come Hell Or Hiwater .

Steve Holt’s De Passem Okey, the two-time reigning champion distance horse, stumbled at the start but rallied to grab second under jockey G.R. Carter Jr. He is by Okey Dokey Dale.

Salvador Pimienta’s Emperor Valerian, who qualified at Will Rogers Downs, took third from the outside post. The 4-year-old gelding is by Heza Fast Dash.

Call Her Hero, who had won all four of her starts at 870 yards, finished fourth followed by last year’s Red Cell Distance Challenge Championship winner Yin Your Eyes, Bok Man, Hes A Real Stone and JW A Royal Flirt.
