Jesses First Moon Goes 3-For-3 In AQHA Maiden Challenge Stakes

HIALEAH PARK, FL—FEBRUARY 16, 2013—Reynaldo Guzman's Jesses Fist Moon picked up his third consecutive win this season Saturday afternoon when he defeated Dash Master Jess by a neck in the $26,505 AQHA Maiden Challenge Stakes. The race conditions were for Challenge enrolled horses, 3-Year-Olds and Up, who were still maidens as of January 1, 2013.

Jesses First Moon met those conditions at the time of nomination, however it didn't take trainer Sergio Concepcion to figure out quickly that 2013 just might be a great year for the 5-year-old.

The My First Moon horse broke his maiden by 1-¼ lengths on January 5. He then returned in an Option Claiming event to win by a neck on January 19.

“We knew he was going to win today,” said Leal, who got his second straight win in the race.

Alejandro Moya bred Jesses First Moon in Texas from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jesses Playmate. Prior to 2013 he made six starts with three seconds and one third.

The Teller Cartel 4-year-old has been first or second in eight of those starts, including four times this year at Hialeah Park. Edgar Gamez trains and Gerardo Garrido rides for owner M and G Farms, Inc. Marlilou Kelly bred Good Toot Display00 in Arizona from the On A High mare Mexican Radio.
