Wdc Wendys Wine Takes Third Straight, Sets Top Sunland Bank of America Challenge Time

SUNLAND PARK, NM—MARCH 19, 2013—Alonso and Sylvia Aranda's Wdc Wendys Wine raced to her third consecutive win Tuesday afternoon while posting the top qualifying time for the Grade2 Bank of American Sunland Park Challenge Championship at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the Southeastern New Mexico raceway on April 7th to vie for the winner's portion of a $100,000-added purse and an invite to participate in the $300,000 Bank of America Challenge Championship(G1) next fall at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Under jockey Salvador Martinez, Wdc Wendys Wine broke sharply and extended her lead to three-quarters over Sizzling Perry. She covered the 440 yard course in a quick :20.761 seconds, a 101 speed index aided by 12 mph tailwind.

Trainer Isidro Rodriguez, who qualified two finalist, saddled the Woodbridge daughter of Signs Of Speeding, by Vital Sign. It was the fourth win in 10 starts for the mare who came into the race off a equally impressive 1 ½ length Allowance win on February 12. Bred in New Mexico by Denton Crozier, the Challenge Championship final will be Wdc Wendys Wine's first stakes competition since a last place effort in the RG2 New Mexican Spring Futurity as a 2-year-old.

Jess Featureme Quick returned to the winner's circle in the first trial after a confident effort with jockey Jess Levario. The Feature Mr Jess 4-year-old defeated Feature Mr Who by three-quarters to get the second fastest clocking of :20.833, a 99 speed index.

The Paul Jones trainee, for owner/breeder Melissa Ann Miller, comes off a outstanding 3-year-old season with earnings of $414,072. Today's victory was the fifth for the gelding, out of One Quick Cookie by Royal Quick Dash, and pushed his earnings to more than $422,000.
