KENNEWICK, WA—MAY 1, 2015—Miguel Sanguino’s Chicks Special Angel is one of 10 fillies and mares entered in Sunday’s 400-yard, $20,000-added Merial Sun Downs Distaff Challenge.

A 7-year-old daughter of Chickspecialmongoose trained by Jose Sanguino, Chicks Special Angel will be making her first start since January 25, when she scored a three-quarter length victory as the odds-on favorite in a 350-yard, $5,000 open-condition allowance race at Portland Meadows. Last season, the mare earned $63,404 from six outs, and her four wins included a convincing 2 1/4-length win in the $28,000 Merial Sun Downs Distaff Challenge.

Chicks Special Angel drew post 5 and will be ridden by Eddie Aceves.

Other contenders include Alota Action, a 7-year-old mare by Quick Action (TB) trained by Ernesto Olmos for owner Juan Jose F. Romo. Alota Action ended her 6-year-old campaign with a fifth-place finish in the October 18, $100,000 Merial Distaff Challenge Championship (G1) at Prairie Meadows.

Edwin Pena has been named to ride Alota Action from post 2.
