PHOENIX, AZ—APRIL 30, 2017—Cowgirl N Up was the much-the-best on Sunday when she went wire-to-wire to defeat fastest qualifier Famous Joker by one-length in the $34,380 John Deere Turf Paradise Juvenile Challenge. Arrow Of Cupid finished a neck behind to take third.
Ridden by jockey Jorge Bourdieu, Cowgirl N Up raced over the 350 yards in :17.891 seconds, a 91-speed index into a 7-mph headwind. It was the second straight win in as many starts for the daughter of second crop sire Texas Icon.
Cowgirl N Up was second Fales homebred to earn a starting spot in the Bank of America Challenge Championships on October 14th at Prairie Meadows. The bay filly is now eligible to compete in the Grade 2 $130,000-Guranteed John Deere Juvenile Championship.
Famous Joker, a colt by leading sire One Famous Eagle racing for owner Yuriana Ramirez, picked up $6,876 for finished second.
