Yashira Vista Wins Distaff Challenge at Ruidoso Downs

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 10, 2019— Mauro Eli Zaborowsky's homebred Yashira Vista splashed over a sloppy racing surface to score the win over fillies and mares in the $26,928 ARC Ruidoso Distaff Challenge on Saturday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

The win earned Yashira Vista an invitation to the Grade 1, $100,000 ARC Distaff Challenge Championship on October 26. Cody Noel, assistant to trainer Mike Robbins, said that the invitation would be accepted.

Slash Z Land and Cattle's Ym Valentine was three quarters of a length behind for second. It was one-half length further back to third-place runner Trace Dynasty, owned and bred by Kathleen O. Matey.

Jimmy Dean Brooks was aboard Yashira Vista for the win in :19.619 for the 400 yards.

Yashira Vista won a conditioned allowance race at Remington Park last spring and the One Famous Eagle daughter then came to Ruidoso Downs. She finished third in the $25,000 Dash For Speed Stakes and was second in an allowance race in her two starts before the ARC Ruidoso Distaff Challenge.

"She ran great," Noel said. "She's been in good form since spring and we've been looking for an opportunity like this. The plan has worked."

The Brazil homebred is out of Strawberry Cartel by Corona Cartel.

Runner-up Ym Valentine, a 4-year-old daughter of Valiant Hero, was a close second in an optional-claiming race in her previous start. She is trained by Toby Keeton and ridden by J.R. Ramirez. You and Me Partners bred the black filly in Oklahoma from the Mr Jess Perry mare Icy Valentine.

Trace Dynasty, a 4-year-old daughter of world champion sire FDD Dynasty, was making her first Ruidoso Downs start of the year after finishing fourth in the Grade 2, $100,000 Juno's Request Stakes at Remington Park in her prior start.

Juan Pulido rode Trace Dynasty for trainer Clint Crawford. The Oklahoma homebred is out of Wowzer Won by Streakin Sixes.

C Breeze, Pricey Girl, First N Sassy, Fast Gold Prize, The Next Episode and Sinsational Tacha complete the field.
