Glens Dashing Snow Dominates G.C.F.A. 79 & Speed Index Under Derby

FREDRICKSBERG, TX—AUGUST 13, 2017—Glens Dashing Snow scored his second win in three starts on Sunday by defeating Grand Contender by one-length in the $17,600 G.C.F.A. 79 & Speed Index Under Derby at Gillespie County Fairground. Toastin Miss Jody finished another length back to take third.

Glens Dashing Snow exploded late under jockey Manuel Gutierrez to complete the 330 yards in :17.029 seconds, a 93-speed index into a 10-mph headwind. The $6,160 winner's purse doubled the son of leading sire Heza Fast Dash's earnings total to $12,320.

Josue Huitron saddled the bay gelding for owner Margarito Espinoza. Glinden Leger bred Glens Dashing Snow in Louisiana from the This Snow Is Royal mare Mary Snow.

Grand Contender, a Tres Seis gelding from the First N Kool mare Genuinely Kool, picked up $2,640 for second. Saul Ramirez, Jr. saddled the sorrel gelding for owner Martha Nevarez. Evans and Evans is the breeder. Jose Martinez had the riding assignment.

Santiago Riojas, Jr. trains third-place finisher Toastin Miss Jody for owner Javier Moreno. Eleazar Hernandez rode the Jodys Money Pop filly out of Toast To Dad by Toast To Dash. She picked up $1,760 for the effort.

Whisky Runner, West Texas Dynasty, His Jess Feintastic, Powerful Cartel, Salty On Fire and Storm Leading Dash completed the field. Fastest qualifier Herculean Task was scratched.
