LQHBA Yearlings Top Training Races In Texas on Friday

SELMA, TX--FEBRUARY 2, 2018--A pair of LQHBA Yearling Sale Graduates posted the fastest two times on Friday for the first official schooling races in Texas for 2-year-olds this year. Retama Park hosted 14 training races today, 13 were earmarked at 220 yards for 2-year-olds.

Dasha Blue, a gray filly by multiple stakes sire Jess Louisiana Blue, posted the fastest time of :13.61 seconds, from 68 starters today, in Race 11 for owner Rueben Juan Casas. Trainer Ray Huron saddled the filly out of the stakes producing Fishers Dash mare Dasha Effort. Bred by Jumonville Farms, Dasha Blue is a sister to stakes-placed My Favorite Blue. Casas paid $12,000 for the filly from the family of Champions Deelish, Fredricksburg, Heza Dasha Fire and Ima Fearless Hero.

Trainer Joe Garza saddled Adored Pilot, an $8,000 LQHBA summer sale graduate, to victory in Race 8 for owner Jorge L. Martinez. Victor Urieta, Jr. rode the Mr Piloto colt to the second fastest time of :13.66 seconds. The first foal of the unplaced Bigtime Favorite mare ,Adored Bigtime, was sold by breeder Grant Farms, LLC. The second dam is the RG1 First To Adore, by First Down Dash, a sister to champion First To Flash and former leading Louisiana sire First To Shine.

Leading sire Heza Fast Dash led all sires with three winners on Friday's card. Sir Runaway Dash had two. Rancho La Cobra led all owners with four winners, while their trainer Brittnay Tellez also had four wins. Joe Garza was the only other trainer with multiple wins getting two. Among jockeys Victor Jrieta, Jr. was the leader with three winners. Those with two winners each include Francisco Calderon, Froylan Ramirez an Luis Vivanco.
