Diamond Of Coronado Wins First Division of Bucking Horse Sale Futurity

MILES CITY, MT – MAY 19, 2018 - A heavy favorite in a short field, Diamond Of Coronado won the first race of the day at Miles City on Saturday in the first of five divisions of the $7,000 Bucking Horse Sale Futurity Overnight Stakes (not black-type).

Diamond Of Coronado ($2.60) and jockey Luis Peralta finished in 17.020 in 300 yards. The pair gained a lead early and finished two lengths ahead of the rest of the pack, all first-time starters.

The 2-year-old son of first crop sire Coronado Cartel is trained by Jesse Villegas for owners Juanita Villegas and Jose Fraire. Diamond of Coronado was bred in Utah by The Running A LLC, out of Ms Diamond Runaway, by Ocean Runaway. Ms Diamond Runaway was a multiple stakes winner in the Intermountain region and Los Al in 2010 and 2011.

There was no chance of catching the winner, but Diamond of Coronado’s stablemate, Fast Dash Two, led the rest of the field to finish a head in front of third-place finisher Sixs Pretty Boots.

Fast Dash Two, a 2-year-old by Coronas Fast Dash, is a homebred for Jesus Medina. Jesse Villegas trains and Shaunda Larsen had the call for Saturday’s race.

The Colorado-bred gelding is out of the Invisible Injun mare Woods Two.

Sixs Pretty Boots and jockey Holly Gervais finished third, over two lengths ahead of the fourth-place finisher. Jesse Villegas also trains Sixs Pretty Boots, a Wyoming-bred filly bred and owned by Broken Bones Cattle Company.

Sixs Pretty Boots is sired by Come On Boots and is out of the First N Six mare Sixs Streakin Pretty.

In lieu of trials for the Bucking Horse Sale Futurity, Miles City split entries into five overnight stakes on Saturday and Sunday. Trials were originally scheduled but were canceled due to track conditions.

Completing the field was Doubletruckles. This Chicks Packin was scratched.
