Ramblin V Eight Sets Top Mark in NDQHRA Derby Trials

FARGO, ND—JULY 19, 2019—Ramblin V Eight, under jockey Doug Frink, posting the fastest qualifying time from two trial races contested today for the $15,000-est. NDQHRA Derby at the North Dakota Horse Park.

The eight fastest qualifiers will return Sunday, July 28th to vie for the winner's share of the 400 yard event for 3-year-old Quarter Horses.

Saddled by trainer Amanda Haar, Ramblin V Eight defeated A Dashing Diva by one-length to get the top qualifying time of :20.281 seconds, a 96 speed index. Bryson Dewald owns the daughter of Ima Ramblin On out of the Lead The Field mare Two Thirty Eight.

Bred in North Dakota by Randal Schwartz, Ramblin V Eight has compiled an (8) 3-2-1 record and earned $13,683. She won the North Plains Futurity at Chippewa Downs and the North Dakota QHRA Futurity at North Dakota Horse Park last season.

Jockey Clyde Smith rode Might B to a head win over Dawsons Affair in the second trial to get the fifth fastest time of :20.551 seconds. A homebred racing for owner-trainer and breeder Billy Buchholz, Mighty B is a son of multiple stakes sire Mighty B Valliant from the No Brakes Now mare Sapientia. It was the second consecutive win for the sorrel gelding.
