ALTOONA, IA—OCTOBER 12, 2019—Real Wagon rallied under jockey Cody Smith to get a nose win over post time favorite Iris Royal Jess in the $60,000 Terrace Hill Stakes, his first career stakes win, Saturday at Prairie Meadows. Sweet Twisted Tea was a head back in the blanket finish to take third.

Saddled by trainer Alex Wessels, Real Wagon completed the 400 yards in :20.181 seconds into a 25 mph crosswind to take home the winners' purse valued at $28,800.

The Iowa homebred son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon races for owner-breeder Kay Sage. Out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Real Royal Downs, Real Wagon has compiled a (14) 4-4-4 record and banked $102,551 in his career.

Entering with a five-race win streak that included last year's Polk County Derby, Iris Royal Jess earned $11,400 for his runner-up effort. Also trained by Wessels, the son of multiple stakes sire Captain Courage races for owner B/B Wessels LLC. Stormy Smith was aboard the Warren Garrels bred gelding out of Pure Royal Dash by Pure D Dash. The gray gelding has earned $144,132.

Third-place finisher Sweet Twisted Tea races for owner-trainer David Palafox and was ridden by jockey Jonathan Dominguez. Two races back the son of Sweet First Down won the RMQHA Championship Stakes at Arapahoe Park. Richard Tobin bred the gray gelding from the Corona Cartel mare Dashing On The Moon. The $6,600 payday increased Sweet Twisted Tea's earning mark to over $76,000.

Fast N Famous Jeans, Rm Kool Okey, Jess Summertime and My T Oak Tree completed the field.
