OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 24, 2020—DF Fabulous Pilot won Sunday night’s featured allowance race at Remington Park for the highest win-percentage trainer on the grounds, Casey Black.

All Black has done this meet is win with 41 percent of the horses he has sent to post (9-of-22). The next highest win percentage among trainers with at least 20 starters is Pedro Martinez at 30 percent.

Black obviously has had high hopes this spring for DF Fabulous Pilot, a 2-year-old gelded son of first-crop sire One Fabulous Eagle, out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Ms Perrys Pilot. In two of four starts, he started DF Fabulous Pilot in trials for the Remington Park Futurity and the Heritage Place Futurity.

He won his RP Futurity trial, but didn’t qualify for the top 10 that went to the finals. In the Heritage Place trials, he could do no better than fifth, but dropping back to allowance-non-winners-of-two for the first time, he proved to be too salty for this group.

Sent off as the 2-1 wagering favorite with the drop back in class, he broke second from the gate in the 300-yard 10th race for 2-year-olds and didn’t take long to take over in mid-stretch, winning by three-quarters of a length under jockey Mario Delgado. DF Fabulous Pilot stopped the clock in 15.622 seconds over the fast track for a speed index of 83. This win gave Delgado a riding double.

DF Fabulous Pilot is owned by Darling Farms of Lamont, Okla., and was bred by the owner. The winner also beat a solid field as he finished ahead of runner-up EC Ante Up, who had won a Heritage Place Futurity trial in her previous start by 1-¼ lengths, but didn’t qualify for the finals that will take place Saturday, May 30, the final day of the season.

DF Fabulous Pilot paid $6.60, $3.60 and $2.60 across the board.

Kool Man Success finished third in the race, another length behind EC Ante Up. The fourth- and fifth-place finishers, First Prize Live and Master Over Gone, were disqualified and placed next-to-last and last after they sandwiched the No. 3 horse Doubters Beware.

Remington Park racing continues with a special holiday card Monday, including three stakes events at the end of the 11-race program. The Jack Brooks Stakes, the Boyd Morris Memorial and the FL Lady Bug Stakes will wrap up the Monday night races. The first race is at 6pm-Central.
