Two More Wins For Red-Hot Trainer Jaime Gomez On Sunday Night

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—MAY 24, 2020—Jaime Gomez has had hot streaks before, but not too many as good as the one he is currently enjoying right now.

"Things are going pretty good right now," Gomez said. "It's all about my team. The get all the credit."

A new addition to his ranch in Murrieta, California has also been an important factor Gomez said.

"One of my sons built a starting gate for the ranch," Gomez said. "We didn't have a gate before and to now have one has really made a difference. The babies are coming to Los Alamitos more prepared and already with some experience in the gate. Having a starting gate at the ranch has really been a great addition to our training program."

Since May 1, Gomez has won 10 races from his 37 Quarter Horse starters for a terrific win ratio of 27%. All 10 of those victories have come with 2-year-old sprinters, including two more wins on Sunday night.

"I am so lucky to have my great friend Carlos Lopez as my assistant trainer," Gomez said. "He's a great horseman who has trained some incredible horses during his own training career. My son, Leonardo, has been a great help and Juan Andrade is helping me exercising horses in the morning. The grooms are doing a great job day in and day out taking wonderful care of the horses. I have been fortunate to have some of the best riders helping me as well. Jesus Rios Ayala did a lot of work on these 2-year-olds and Oscar Peinado and Oscar Andrade, Jr. have also helped me a lot. Peinado has been on fire and has been a huge part of our good start. The entire team deserves the credit."

Peinado piloted both winners on Sunday, first guiding The Quarter Company LLC's Looks On Fleek to a length victory in the fourth race in a time of :15.51. He then piloted Darling Farms and Gomez's Df Fabulous Dollar, a filly by One Fabulous Eagle, to a head win in :15.961.

"I have a lot of nice horses," Gomez added. "La Jaconde will be in action in the Ed Burke Million Futurity trials on Sunday, June 7. We have a lot of nice horses pointed for those trials."
