Three First Crop Sires Get Winners In First Official Week of Juvenile Racing

DALLAS, TX–MARCH 8, 2023–Eight days into the official start for 2-year-old juveniles this year, three first-crop sires have already recorded their first winners.

Tarzanito, a champion son of leading sire Favorite Cartel sits atop the first week's leading first-crop sires of money earners list with one winner from seven to race and earning $5,820.

The Grade 1 winner also got his first graded stakes finalist when Tayzanito, a 2-year-old filly, won her trial for the $365,080 restricted Grade 2 Mardi Gras Futurity at Louisiana Downs. The 300 yard.

Out of the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Mystical Blue, the $20,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate was a half-length winner in the eighth on day 2 of the trials Her time of :15.769 seconds earned the final qualifying spot after 24 trials were contested over the two days.

The Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) final will run back on Saturday, March 25.

Two-time champion Flying Cowboy 123 got his first winner and first graded stakes finalist in week one.

Two-time AQHA Racing Champion Flying Cowboy 123 sired his first winner and first graded stakes qualifier, rom three to race, on March 2 when Woopaa 123 posted the seventh fastest time for the $339,046 Grade 3 Louisiana Downs Futurity.

The 2-year-old gelding, out of Chalinashake, by Moon Shake, will contest the 300 yard final at Louisiana Downs Saturday, March 25.

Jess Bein The Hero is the only other first-crop sire that got a winner in week one. The multiple graded stakes winning son of Valiant Hero sired one winner from three starters. Wild Topshelf Hero, out of Rbd Top Shelf by Stoli, was a one-length winner on day 2 of the Mardi Gras Futurity trials.

Grade 2 winner Kas Tempting did not get a winner in his first three starters but he did get a Grade 3 qualifier when Kas Delivers Gl finished second in his Grade 3 Louisiana Downs Futurity trial to get the fifth fastest time.

The brown gelding is out of the Brimmerton mare Glorys Deliverance.
