Rubio rode Hot Hitter to victory in the recent Governor's Cup Derby(RG1) at Los Alamitos. He has also ridden Snitcher, Fighter On Fire, Sheza Bad Habit, Chivlary Sr, Whatta Knockout, Merridco Hawk, Whole Lot Of Karma, Jumpn Beduino and The Goodbye Kisser to stakes victories.

Partners Dominic “Bud” Alessio and John Davies have been partners for more than a decade, and C. Terry Brown joined them about five years ago. Davies died in May from pancreatic cancer, but his partners kept his name as a way to honor him. Alessio is a businessman and president of the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association. Brown owns several hotels, including the Carriage Inn in Ridgecrest, California,and the Town & Country hotel in Mission Valley, California. Davies was a lawyer and was very involved in civic affairs, including seven years serving appointments as judicial adviser to Governors' Arnold Schwarznegger and Pete Wilson.

Madoff - The Separatist colt Madoff comes into the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity off just four starts, but has he been sharp in his two most recent outs. The colt ran twice this spring, finishing fourth in a maiden race each time. In his Governor’s Cup Futurity (RG2) trial, Madoff won by 1 1/2 lengths, then rested until the Two Million trials. In his trial, he won by a half length. Madoff is named for Bernie Madoff, who in 2009 was convicted of multiple felonies resulting from a Ponzi scheme that defrauded thousands of investors of billions of dollars. “(Partner John Davies) thought of the name,” said partner Dominic “Bud” Alessio. “John said, well he stole everyone’s money – so we’re going to name this horse ‘Madoff’ and steal everyone’s money!”

Three-time champion Separatist was a seven-time stakes winner who earned $889,044 on the track while racing at Los Alamitos for two seasons. The Chicks Beduino stallion out of dam of distinction Separate Ways has from eight crops sired the earners of more than $15.1 million. He is the sire of 38 stakes winners and 499 winners from 746 starters, and his foals include world champion DM Shicago ($1,873,730) and champion Inseperable.

The First Down Dash mare Dash For Kate has produced five winners from five starters, including stakes winner and Grade 1-finalist Girlie Man (by Snowbound (TB), $58,810). Dash For Kate is a full sister to stakes winners First Special Dash ($162,860) and Dashin With Johnny ($71,933) and a half sister to Grade 1-placed A Streakinson (by Hawkinson, $68,667).
