Miss Fancy Nancy Rolls To Bank Of America Century Mile Challenge Championship Victory

Miss Fancy Nancy powered clear to a convincing victory in the $44,131 Bank of America Century Mile Challenge Championship at Century Mile on Friday evening.
Ridden by Daniel Tavares, Miss Fancy Nancy broke third and moved into contention before taking command. The five-year-old mare drew away to win by 2 1/2 lengths, completing the 440 yards in :21.833 for an 87 speed index.
Miss Fancy Nancy is a homebred for Barry and Janice Sather and is trained by Misael Moreno. She is sired by Big Lew and out of the Favorite Cartel mare Singles Cruise.
Coming off a runner-up finish in the Evergreen Park Distaff Challenge Stakes, Miss Fancy Nancy improved her record to 24-9-8-2 with earnings of $138,009. An established stakes performer, she has won the Century Downs Aged Invitational Stakes, Century Downs Cup Classic Maturity Stakes, CTM Sprint Stakes, CTM Princess Stakes and Alberta Bred Derby.
Flight Club rallied to finish second under Alexander Marti. The eight-year-old gelding raced near the back of the field before making up ground late, crossing the wire in :22.140 for an 80 speed index.
Owned by Jerry Stojan and trained by William Leech, Flight Club was bred by Steve D. Burns DVM. The $19,000 Los Alamitos Equine Sale graduate is sired by Foose and out of the winning Separatist mare Seperate Flight.
Flight Club now has a record of 37-21-7-4 with earnings of $257,611. His extensive stakes record includes three victories in the Old Timers Classic, along with wins in the CTD Distance #3 Stakes, CTD Distance Stakes, CTM Distance Stakes and Century Mile Championship Challenge Stakes.
O Seeyalater crossed the wire in third under Martin Ortiz. The six-year-old mare lost her path in mid-stretch before digging in late, finishing a head behind Flight Club in :22.151 for a 79 speed index.
Owned by Jeffrey Rath and trained by Wesley Oulton, O Seeyalater was bred by Wesley Oulton. The $12,000 AQHRA Yearling Sale graduate is sired by First Timber and out of the Pappasito mare Howdoyado.
O Seeyalater now has a record of 33-9-3-7 with earnings of $182,997. She entered the race following back-to-back victories in the Alberta Stallion Maturity Stakes and Evergreen Park Distance Challenge Stakes.
Fired finished fourth, followed by First Famous Prize and O La Dee Da.
