Funeral Services Set Today for Darrell Williams

HOUSTON, TX–FEBRUARY 3, 2025–Darrell Williams, 82, of Houston, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

Funeral services will be held today, February 3, 2025, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Chapel in Houston at 2:00 p.m. (CST). Visitation will be before the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

Darrell was born on June 30, 1942, in Kosse, Texas, to Lester Williams and Juanita Gillihan Williams.

After graduating from Marlin High School in 1960, Darrell moved from Kosse to Pasadena to work at Petro-Tex Chemical, where he met many of his lifelong friends. After several years, he began his career as a State Farm Insurance agent in Houston.

He often spent weekends with his children, family, and friends at the lake, enjoyed time at the deer lease, attended his children’s sports and school events, and later developed an interest in racehorses.

In 1989, he met Kitty in a horse barn in Tomball. They were married in 1992 and began to enjoy time at their farm in Vinton, Louisiana, where Darrell spent many afternoons relaxing on the porch.

Darrell retired in 2013 after a 44-year career with State Farm which gave him and Kitty more time for traveling, raising and racing horses, and meeting close friends and family for dinner.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kitty Williams of Houston; daughter, Stacie Davis (John) of Cypress; son, Kevin Williams of San Benito; son, Devin Williams (Heather) of Conifer, Colorado; sister, Wynell Phelps of Pasadena, sister-in-law, Peggie Williams of Pasadena, and grandchildren Cole Davis, Kate Davis, Violet Eckhart (Drake), Dahlia Williams, Clover Williams, Farrah Williams, and many other family members and friends.

Darrell was preceded in death by his first wife Brenda Williams, his brothers Eudean Williams and Weldon Williams, and his brother-in-law John Phelps.
