GUTHRIE, OK–FEBRUARY 3, 2025–Crazy Down Corona became the only Quarter Horse mare in history to produce two offspring with earnings in excess of $2 million when her 5-year-old son champion Hes Judgeandjury picked up $17,500 on Saturday for finishing fourth in the Grade 1 $350,000 Championship at Sunland Park.
Hes Judgeandjury also joined an elite group of only 15 Quarter Horses who have broken the $2 million earnings barrier, including his half-brother world champion Empressum, who is the fourth all-time leading money earner with $2,358,873 and counting. Both horses are trained by M. Heath Taylor.
A Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity finalist, Crazy Down Corona ($73,162) by all-time leading sire First Down Dash, is the dam of 13 registered foals, 9 to race, 4 black type, and 2 champions. She is owned by Jeff Jones and Steve Holt and was bred in Oklahoma by Holt.
They include World champion Empressum SI 111 (25 wins in 36 starters, $2,458,873, Champion of Champions-G1 (twice), etc.), two-time champion Hes Judgeandjury SI 98 ($2,008,772, All American Futurity-G1, etc.), stakes-placed Lotas First SI 90 ($44,954), Cartel Envy SI 98 ($37,334), etc.
The second dam is the stakes-winning and multiple stakes-producing Corona Cartel mare Crazy About Corona SI 100 ($90,252), dam of stakes winner Jess One More Thing SI 97 ($77,057 at 2), stakes-placed Alotalota SI 93 ($108,799), Lota Cac SI 101 ($97,203), etc.
This is the family of Ruidoso Futurity(G1) winner Okey Dokey Fantasy SI 103 ($576,521), Texas Classic Futurity(G1) winner Fast Debonair SI 103 ($455,658), stakes winner A Bee C SI 99 ($200,403), etc.
Crazy Down Corona has produced a 2-year-old full sister to Empressum, Stratospheric Realm. She also has three registered yearlings, two by Favorite Cartel and one by Apollitical Jess.
