Post-time Favorite Js On Fire Prevails In AQHA Remington Park Championship Challenge(G2)

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 6, 2025—Starting off a second-place effort in the 550-yard Grade 2 SLM Big Daddy Stakes last month, trainer Michael Joiner shortened Js On Fire to the classic Quarter Horse Distance on Sunday at Remington Park.

The move worked beautifully as Js On Fire dueled early and then finished strongest late under jockey Bryan Candanosa to defeat One Stolin Eagle by half-a-length in the $68,535 AQHA Remington Park Championship Challenge(G2).

"In regards to the SLM Big Daddy race we just needed to get a race in somewhere," Joiner said after the win. "I really thought he could run the 550. It got a little short, but he ran a good race in the SLM Big Daddy, and it set him up well for this race tonight. Coming off the 550 probably helped him in the last 100 yards tonight."

The son of leading sire Hes Relentless completed the 440-yard task in 21.367 seconds over a muddy (sealed) surface. He equaled a 106-speed index with an 8 mph tailwind.

"He left a little awkward, partially my fault," Candanosa said after the race. "Halfway down, I tried to stay chilly on him, but the last 100 yards, he put it all together and got up there for the win."

When asked if he had any doubts, Candanosa said, "I knew I had a lot of horse under me going 440 yards. All thanks to the Joiner and his training, He does a good job with these horses and the grooms and everybody. I am just thankful for the opportunity to be here."
