HOUSTON, TX–JUNE 13, 2026–Fabulous Casina dueled throughout and surged clear late to score a half-length victory in the $57,500 Sam Houston 250 Stakes Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park.
The Texas-bred 4-year-old filly covered 250 yards in 13.165 seconds over a fast track, earning a 96 speed index while collecting the winner's share of $34,500.
Bred in Texas by Bobby Myers, Fabulous Casina is a daughter of multiple stakes sire One Fabulous Eagle out of Bm Casina Royale, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon.
Owned by Thomas D. Tiller and trained by Brittany Tellez, the bay filly was ridden by Froylan Ramirez and returned to the winner's circle after a determined stretch battle. Sent off as the 2.10-1 favorite, she dueled from the outset before drawing away in the final strides. The winner of five of 15 career starts has earned $139,605.

Shot Of Takillya finished second, one-half length behind the winner, while holding a one-length advantage over third-place finisher Goodtime in Texas. A gray 3-year-old colt by multiple stakes sire Muddy Watters out of Takillya Gurl, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, Shot Of Takillya is bred and owned by Sunset Well Service Inc. The Texas-bred colt is trained by Francisco Perez Jr., and was ridden by Raul Hernandez Jr. The runner-up earned $11,500, boosting his mark to $167,463.
Goodtime In Texas, a 5-year-old sorrel mare by Duponte out of Keep It Royal, by Givinitaroyaleffort, finished another length back in third and earned $6,325. Bred in Texas by Connie Nobles, she is owned by John A. Obregon, trained by Ramiro Villarreal, and was ridden by Jose Herbert. The mare bore in during the running but was never a serious threat to the top two finishers. Stepping into stakes company off a starter allowance win in her last start, she has banked over $96,000.
Defives finished fourth, followed by Catty Six B, Texas Diva RL crossed the wire sixth but was disqualified by the stewards and placed last for interference following a review of the race. Blasted Eagle was elevated to seventh, followed by Heza Fast Dynasty in eighth, Grace N Dash in ninth, and Chilitossweetbruja in tenth.
The official order of finish was Fabulous Casina, Shot of Takillya, Goodtime in Texas, Defives, Catty Six B, Blasted Eagle, Heza Fast Dynasty, Grace N Dash, Chilitossweetbruja, and Texas Diva RL.
The Sam Houston 250 Stakes was contested for accredited Texas-breds ages 3 and older.
