SHELBYVILLE, IN–SEPTEMBER 3, 2024–Wrs Valentino drifted in from the ten hole to prevail in the $36,000 Escondido Beach Overnight Stakes at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Tuesday.
Jockey Diego Villamil Bocanegra piloted Wrs Valention to his neck victory over Streakindownthebeach and rider Luis Luna Diaz. The son of Mighty B Valiant clocked an 85 speed index with a five mph crosswind in 18.002 seconds. The post-time favorite's 350-yard effort paid $3.20 to win on 3-5 odds. Oscar Mike laced third under the guidance of Erik Esqueda.
Trainer Natasha Perez conditions Wrs Valentino for owner-breeder Williams Racing Stables, Inc. The eight-year-old Kentucky bred has lit the board 27 of 28 starts with 14 wins, and the $19,800 payday boosted his earnings to $551,407,
Wrs Valentino's top accolades include the Indiana Championship Stakes (twice), Bradford Stakes, Governors Stakes and QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Futurity, among many others. The eight-time stakes winner is out of Wrs Kissandteller by Teller Cartel.
Trained by Time Eggleston, runner-up Streakindownthebeach has earned $104,932 with three wins from 22 starts. The son of Habits Secret is out of Beach Runner by Escondido Beach. Breeder Edward Pennington sold the four-year-old gelding for $26,750 to his owner, Buddy Presley, in the QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Sale.
Trainer Felix Barraza saddled Oscar Mike for owner C.T.S. Stables, LLC. Bradley Hale and Conda Maze bred the five-year-old son of Kiss My Hocks in Texas out of Cosmic Corona by Corona Cartel. He has a record of 4-3-7 from 24 starts and $81,491 in earnings.
One Cool Corona, One Smoken Dynasty, Iam A Fancy Bug, Tac Me Up, Paige, Volcom Cartel, and Piloted By An Angel round out the order of finish.
