Miss Fancy Nancy Gets Her First Stakes Victory In The Alberta Bred Derby

ROCKY VIEW, ALB–OCTOBER 27, 2024–After several attempts in her career, post-time favorite Miss Fancy Nancy finally gets her first stakes victory on Sunday in the $28,549 (US) Alberta Bred Derby at Century Downs.

From a field of nine, Miss Fancy Nancy broke well down the center from post six. Piloted by Daniel Tavares, the three-year-old filly led wire-to-wire into a 35 mph headwind and stopped the clock at 20.230 seconds. The 400-yard victory paid $3.40 to win on 3/5 odds.

Miss Fancy Nancy has had plenty of success on the track. The daughter of Big Lew won four out of 15 starts, earning $63,984 after taking home the $12,878 winner's share of today's purse.

This year, she placed second in the Alberta Bred Maturity Stakes, All Canadian Derby, and was a finalist in the Century Mile Derby Challenge. From her two-year-old campaign, Miss Fancy Nancy placed second in the Canada Cup Futurity [G3] Evergreen Park Juvenile Challenge and fourth in the Alberta Bred Futurity [G3].

Trainer Misael Moreno conditions Miss Fancy Nancy for owners-breeders Barry and Janice Sather.  She is out of Singles Cruise by Favorite Cartel.

Jockey Desmond Bryan guided Ms Mini Warrior to her second-place finish 3/4-lengths ahead of Get It Good and rider O. Hernandez.

Trainer Brant Laczo owns Ms Mini Warrior with Dakota Laczo. The Goldin Warrior filly has two wins from 14 starts and $38,207 in the bank. She won the Alberta Stallion Stakes Derby at Century Mile in August. She was also runner-up in the Maiden Express Stakes and placed fifth in the All-Canadian Derby earlier in the season.

Isaak Fehr bred Ms Mini Warrior out of the Hez Choice Property mare Sparkling Hy.

Get It Good has lit the board 15 of 19 starts with four victories and $58,011 in earnings. The son of Jd Wagon Boss' owner, WT Ranch, purchased for him $8,000 in the 2022 AQHRA Yearling Mixed Sale. Barry and Janice Sather bred him out of the Favorite Cartel mare, Status Symbal.

Hez Hott Ur Nott, O Lets Be First, St Paddy 109, Zivas Elvis, High Rocky Mountain, and Timbers Beauty complete the order of finish.
