PHOENIX, AZ—JANUARY 6, 2024—Desert Classic Futurity runner-up and AQRA Futurity finalist Jd Dash Jr got his first career win today while posting the fastest qualifying time for the Turf Paradise Maiden Stakes.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from three trial races for maiden 3-year-olds at time entry will return to Turf Paradise on Monday, January 27, to vie for the winner's share of a $22,500 purse going a distance of 300 yards.

Jd Dash Jr prevailed by a nose in the second trial under jockey Kody Kellenberger to clock 15.821 seconds, the fastest qualifying time, and an 89-speed index. 

Conditioned by trainer Jesus Fernando Ortega, Sr., Jd Dash Jr has compiled a (6) 1-2-0 record for owner-breeder Jose Diaz German. The son of Bodacious Dash, from the Jess James Jr mare Reacorona Jr, has earned $20,948.

Set The Edge, runner-up in the fastest trials is one of three qualifiers sired by champion Kvn Corona. Owner-trainer Alex Torres-Casas saddled the gelding out of Famous Little Reba by One Famous Eagle to the second-fastest clocking of 15.825 seconds. McColee Land & Livestock LLC is the breeder.
