Apollitical Jess Breaks His Own Single-Season Record Earnings Mark

DALLAS, TX—DECEMBER 15, 2019—Milestones in Apollitical Jess' stud career are accumulating to the point where his own bar of success will be his biggest hurdle. Today he crossed that hurdle!

Last year James Ranch's flagship stallion broke all-time leading sire First Down Dash's 12-year-old single season progeny earnings record in October when he topped $6.56 million dollars in the middle of the month. He went on to end the year at an astonishing $8,081,579.

With 15 days left in 2019, Rancho El Cabresto, Inc.'s son of leading sire Mr Jess Perry surpassed his own all-time season earnings record set last year by posting $8,111,384 on 203 wins and 21 black type victories (10 graded) through December 15.

Apollitical Jess got his second consecutive All American Futurity(G1) winner on Labor Day when Mr Jess Jenkins won the $3.5 million race at Ruidoso Downs. The gelding followed that with a win in the Grade 2 Southwest Juvenile Invitational Championship at Zia Park December, bringing his earnings total to 1,576,180, that will surely cement championship honors to be handed out next month in Oklahoma City.

Last year's All American Futurity(G1) winner Apocalyptical Jess posted a five-race win streak this year that included the Grade 1 Ruidoso QH Derby. He was also third in the Rainbow Derby(G1).

Apollitical Jess' champion son Flying Cowboy 123 (8 wins to 3, $1,045,811) returned this season to win the Grade 1 Texas Classic Derby and finish third in the All American Derby(G1).

His other top 2019 performers in include Remington Park Invitational Championship(G1) winner Political Attraction, Dash For Cash Futurity(G2) winner Chilitos, PCQHRA Derby(G2) winner Mister Appolitical, Mr Jet More Stakes(G2) winner Admiral Sting, Oklahoma Derby(G3) winner Jess Proved Youwrong, and Junos Request Stakes(G2) winner As and Js.

In six crops to race, Apollitical Jess is the sire of 348 winners(68%), 120 black type (23%), 5 champions, earners of $31.7 million with average earnings per starter of nearly $62,000.

He is also the sire AQHA Racing Champion 3-Year-Old Colt Apollitical Blood SI 99 ($1,519,800, All American Derby-G1, etc.), AQHA Racing Champion 3-Year-Old and Champion 3-Year-Old Gelding Hold Air Hostage SI 108 ($1,415,551, All American Derby-G1, etc.), AQHA Racing Champion 3-Year-Old Filly A Political Lady SI 97 ($396,685, La Prima Del Ano Derby-G3, etc.), multiple Grade 1 winner Apolltical Chad SI 97 ($930,730, Ruidoso Futurity-G1, etc.), multiple grade 1 winner AJs High SI 106 ($854,328, AQHA Challenge Championship-G1, etc.), etc.

A phenomenal racehorse, Apollitical Jess won or placed in 12 of 14 career starts and earned $1,399,831. He was named the AQHA World Champion, Champion 3-Year-Old and Champion 3-Year-Old Colt in 2010 after winning the Champion of Champions(G1), Los Alamitos Super Derby(G1) and finishing second in the All American Derby(G1). He was also second in the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity(G1) at 2.

Apollitical Jess is out of three-time AQHA Racing champion and former Broodmare of the Year Apollitical Time SI 104 (14 wins, $904,242). The daughter of the Thoroughbred sire Apollo won the Los Alamitos Super Derby(G1), Mildred N Vessels Memorial(G1), Los Alamitos Invitational Championship(G1), Governor's Cup Derby(RG1), California Challenge Championship(G2), California Breeders' Matron Stakes(RG2), Town Policy Handicap(G3) and La Pacifica Handicap.

She is the dam of 6 ROM winners including world champion Apollitical Jess (see above), stakes-placed grade 2 finalist Rocket And Roll SI 99 ($50,885) and the granddam of Grade 2 Southern California Derby winner Mr Apollitical Das SI 94 ($216,811) and G1-placed Oneapolliticalflight SI 93 ($196,808), etc.

Apollitical Jess was also the #3 Leading Yearling Sale Sire of 201 by gross and average, with 66 yearlings grossing $2,816,500 for a $43,331 average.
