OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 29, 2021—Danjer, a 5-year-old son of champion FDD Dynasty and last year’s champion aged horse, will make his 2021 season debut in Saturday’s 400-yard, $100,000 Leo Stakes (G1) at Remington Park.
Danjer will be making his first start since October 24, when the gelding scored a head victory as the 3-5 favorite in the 440-yard, $250,000 Bank of America Challenge Championship (G1) at Albuquerque Downs. Danjer is coming off of a 4-year-old campaign during which he won four of six races and earned $326,061.
Danjer drew post 2 and will be ridden by Cody Smith for owners Downtime Enterprises, Billy G. Smith, and Dean Frey, who also trains the gelding.
Other contenders include Midday News, a 5-year-old FDD Dynasty gelding trained by Mike Joiner for owners Linda Joiner, Pat Smith, Izora Southway, Holly King, and Kelly Allen. Midday News will be shortening in distance off of his half-length victory as the 13-10 favorite in the 550-yard, $50,000 SLM Big Daddy Stakes (G3) at Remington Park on March 9.
Midday News drew post 6 and will be ridden by Raul Ramirez Jr.
