FARMINGTON, NM—MAY 3, 2021—La Cuchara, a stakes-winning daughter of Jess Good Candy racing for Julie A. Schoenhofer and Maricela Vasquez, is one of 19 2-year-olds entered in Friday’s 350-yard Four Corners Futurity trials at SunRay Park.
La Cuchara has earned $46,278 from two outs, and her two wins include a one-length victory in the 300-yard, $88,391 Arizona QRA Turf Paradise Open Spring Futurity on April 28. A $15,000 purchase at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City, the filly drew post 7 and will be ridden by Adrian Ramos for trainer Eric Valenzuela.
Drew Swasey’s Dixie Park, a homebred daughter of champion Separatist trained by Wes Giles, drew post 8 and will be ridden by Alan Hernandez in the first heat. Dixie Park made her debut with a fourth-place finish, two lengths behind La Cuchara, in a Arizona QRA Turf Paradise Open Spring Futurity trial on April 6.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the May 23, $40,000-added Four Corners Futurity final.
