VINTON, LA–MAY 13, 2024–B Second Cowboy, a gelded son of Flying Cowboy 123 and the fastest qualifier, heads a field of 10 sophomores entered back in Friday's 330-yard, $110,420 Old South Derby at Delta Downs.

B Second Cowboy is coming off of a wire-to-wire, three-quarter length win in the first of four trials on April 26, one of his three lifetime wins in as many starts at Delta Downs. The gelding has banked $45,843 from three races this season, and he ran second, a head behind winner Eyesa Freighttrain B, in the 350-yard, $218,000 Oklahoma Derby (G3) at Remington Park on March 23.

Jose Espinosa trains B Second Cowboy for owner Party Tyme Racing. The gelding drew post 3 and will be ridden by Guadalupe Lucio Jr.

Rogelio Marquez Jr.'s One Sweet Sugar made her 3-year-old season debut with a second-place finish in her Old South Derby trial. However, the homebred One Sweet Jess filly was coming off of a juvenile campaign during which she won two state-bred futurities, including the 350-yard, $625,000 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs.

One Sweet Sugar drew the rail post and will be ridden by Jasiel Aquino for trainer Jesus M. Marquez.
