This year's Cyclone Derby winner AB Boogie is one of eight contenders who will be looking to upset Vals Sizzling Lips' win streak in the $40,000 Cy-Hawk Stakes on Saturday at Prairie Meadows

ALTOONA, IA–JULY 31, 2024–Vals Sizzling Lips will put her win streak on the line in Saturday's 350-yard, $40,000 Cy-Hawk Stakes (R) for Iowa-breds at Prairie Meadows.

A 5-year-old daughter of Valiant Hero owned by B/B Wessels LLC, Vals Sizzling Lips has won her last two starts, including a 350-yard, $25,139 open-condition allowance dash for state-breds at Prairie Meadows on July 15. The mare has earned $90,209 from 18 races, all at Prairie Meadows.

Vals Sizzling Lips drew the rail post and will be ridden by Miguel J. Ramirez for trainer Alex Wessels.

Other contenders include Ruben Mojica's AB Boogie, a stakes-winning 3-year-old son of champion Apollitical Blood trained by Manuel Mojica Campos. AB Boogie will be facing older runners for the first time off of his half-length victory in the July 7, $64,000 Cyclone Derby (R) for Iowa-bred sophomores.

AB Boogie drew post four and will be ridden by Alfredo Triana Jr.
