Hezgothelook Z Continues His Triple Crown Quest in Monday's All American Futurity

ALBUQUERQUE, NM–AUGUST 31, 2024–Triple One Ranch's Hezgothelook Z will attempt to become American Quarter Horse racing's first Triple Crown winner in 43 years when he faces nine opponents in the sport's richest race, Monday's 440-yard, $3-million All American Futurity (G1) at Albuquerque Downs.

Trained by Toby Keeton, Hezgothelook Z was a $70,000 purchase from breeder Tommy Dinwiddie at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. The bay son of Favorite Cartel has earned $858,300 from six races, and his five wins include victories in the first two legs of the All American Triple Crown, the 350-yard, $1-million Ruidoso Futurity (G1) in June, and the 400-yard, $1-million Rainbow Futurity (G1) in July.

Hezgothelook Z drew post three and will be ridden by Bryan Candanosa.

La Feliz Montana Ranch's FDD Dreams has finished second to Hezgothelook Z in his last two outs, including the Rainbow Futurity. Xavier Rodriguez trains the homebred gelded son of champion FDD Dynasty.

FDD Dreams drew post-ten and will be ridden by Noe Garcia Jr.

Special Effort is the only horse to complete a Triple Crown sweep, as the son of Raise Your Glass (TB) and American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame member accomplished the feat in 1981, the year he was voted world champion.
