Four Stakes Headline Saturday Program at Fair Grounds

NEW ORLEANS, L A–SEPTEMBER 3, 2024–Four stakes headline Saturday's 10-race program at Fair Grounds Racecourse in New Orleans.
Post time for Saturday's first race is set for 12 p.m. (CDT).
Saturday's 440-yard, $50,000 Mid-City Stakes (RG2) drew a field of eight Louisiana breds, led by Rogelio Marquez Jr.'s Into The Grey. A 5-year-old son of Sir Runaway Dash trained by Jeremy Derozin, the gelding has won three of his five career starts at the classic quarter-mile distance, and he is coming off of a one-length victory on a muddy and sealed track in the July 13, 440-yard Louisiana Classic Stakes (RG2) at Delta Downs.
Into The Grey drew post 4 and will be ridden by Ubaldo Luna.
Eight fillies and mares are entered in Saturday's 330-yard, $40,000 French Quarter Stakes.
Efrain Ortiz's Moonin Princess will be facing older stakes company off of her head victory in the 350-yard, $50,000 Treme Derby (R) at Fair Grounds on August 17. Alex Clark trains the 3-year-old Moonin The Eagle filly.
Moonin Princess drew post 3 and will be ridden by Yaidel Rodriguez.
Morning-line favorite Doin It Just For Fun headlines Saturday's 350-yard, $40,000 Esplanade Stakes.
A homebred 4-year-old son of champion FDD Dynasty trained by Heath Taylor for owner Ted G. Abrams, Doin It Just For Fun boasts a three-race win streak that includes a neck victory in the 250-yard, $40,000 Gentilly Dash Stakes at Fair Grounds on August 16. The gelding drew the rail post and will be ridden by Juan F. Garcia Jr.
Jose Carlos Lopez's Onemorewildtrain drew post 2 for Saturday's 250-yard, $50,000 Lakeview Dash Stakes.
A 4-year-old Freighttrain B gelding trained by Leonel Hernandez, Onemorewildtrain is coming off of a second-place finish to Doin It Just For Fun in the Gentilly Dash. Guadalupe Lucio Jr. will ride Onemorewildtrain in the Lakeview Dash.
