ALTOONA, IA–SEPTEMBER 24, 2024–Two graded stakes headline a Friday's stakes bonanza at Prairie Meadows.
David P. Morehead's Flashin Dynamite, an undefeated daughter of champion First Moonflash and the fastest qualifier is one of 10 juveniles entered back in Friday's 350-yard, $253,150 Valley Junction Futurity (G3). A $30,000 purchase at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale, the chestnut filly has won all three of her starts, including the last of six trials on September 8, 2024.
Flashin Dynamite drew post nine and will be ridden by Alfredo Triana Jr. for trainer Manuel Mojica Campos.
Other contenders include Jill Cook's Sheza Fearless Eagle, a homebred One Fabulous Eagle filly who has won her last two starts at Prairie Meadows, including a 330-yard, $14,500 non-winners-of-two allowance dash on July 3. Fernando Manriquez-Garay trains the filly.
Sheza Fearless Eagle drew post eight and will be ridden by Jorge Torres.
Also on Friday, Paul Wolfe's One Fabulous Boy and Bradbury Racing's Nothin Like You head an entire field of 10 aged runners entered in the 400-yard, $50,000 Two Rivers Stakes (G3).
One Fabulous Boy is shortening in distance off of his head victory over Nothin Like You in the 440-yard, $59,000 AQHA Prairie Meadows Championship Challenge (G2) on August 18. Ed Hardy trains the homebred 5-year-old One Fabulous Eagle gelding.
One Fabulous Boy drew post six and will be ridden by Angel O. Ramirez.
Nothin Like You is a homebred 5-year-old son of Favorite Cartel who won last year's Two Rivers Stakes. Trained by John Hammes, the Colorado-bred gelding has earned $35,488 from three races this year, and he scored a nose victory in the July 7, 350-yard Keokuk Stakes (G3) at Prairie Meadows.
Nothin Like You drew post-nine and will be ridden by Stormy Smith.
Fastest qualifier and recent stakes winner Lipstick Lou drew the rail post for Friday's 400-yard, $111,560 Altoona Derby for sophomores.
Racing for Leto Land and Cattle LLC and trainer Stacy Charette-Hill, Lipstick Lou has won her last two outs, including the 350-yard, $99,000 Prairie Meadows Gold Derby on July 7. The sorrel daughter of champion Jess Louisiana Blue drew the rail post and will be ridden by Alfredo Triana Jr.
Nine 2-year-olds, led by stakes winner Relentless Rocket, are entered in Friday's 350-yard, $25,000 Valley Junction Juvenile Stakes.
A homebred son of champion Hes Relentless trained by Jason Olmstead for owner Tom Maher, Relentless Rocket has banked $50,005 from six starts, and his three wins include a clear 1 1/4-length victory in the August 15, $80,000 Northlands Futurity at Canterbury Park in Minnesota.
Relentless Rocket drew post three and will be ridden by Ramiro Garcia.
