Six-Figure Summer Sale Yearlings Make Debut In 12 Training Races at Retama Park Wednesday

SELMA, TX–FEBRUARY 3, 2025–Sixty-seven juveniles, including five six-figure summer sale graduates, will make their career debut on Wednesday when Retama Park hosts 12 training races for newly minted 2-year-old American Quarter Horses.

To be contested over 250 yards, the schooling races are non-parimutuel. They give young horses valuable experience while they prepare for their two-year-old racing season. First post is Noon (CST).

Go Valiant Knight, a $170,000 Ruidoso Select graduate, will start from the 3 post in Race 2 for owner Valenzuelas Racing Stables and trainer Jose Sanchez, III. The son of 2024 leading sire of money earners Favorite Cartel is a half-brother to Los Alamitos Oaks(G3) winner Jess Dream Of Me.  The second dam is AQHA Dam of Distinction Jess Sass Me.

Sanchez III will also send out Valenzuelas Racing Stables' $130,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate El Fenix in Race 11. The son of Favorite Cartel is from the first crop out of stakes winner Astranomical by Dominyun. The second dam is stakes winner Quick Mon Sign.

Trainer Jose Espinosa will saddle $163,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate Ivory Cartel in Race 6. Racing for owner Jeantile Mm Deville, the son of Ivory James, is the first foal of the RG1 finalist Cartels Legacy by Favorite Cartel. The second dam is the stakes-winning Apollitical Jess mare Apollitical Legacy. This is the family of leading sires FDD Dynasty and Apollitical Blood.

Sanchez III's third six-figure sales graduate to go Wednesday, Candy Baby, will start from post-five in Race 4. Owner Michael Valenzuela paid $110,000 at the TQHA Yearling Sale for the Jess Good Candy filly out Paradice City, a half-sister to leading sire Kiss My Hocks.

Trainer Marc Jungers will saddle the final six-figure yearling, Perfect Suspicion, in Race 10. Owner Norman Allen paid $110,000 for the Suspicious Interest half-sister to Dash For Cash Futurity(G2) winner One Perfect Lady.  This is the family of leading sire FDD Dynasty.
