OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 4, 2025–Oklahoma-bred sophomores will dominate Sunday's 12-race program at Remington Park, as the track presents trials for the Remington Park Derby (RG1) and Remington Park Oaks (R).
Thirty-eight state-bred 3-year-olds are entered in four 400-yard Remington Park Derby trials. The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $150,000-est. final on April 19.
Relentless American, a homebred son of champion Hes Relentless trained by Jason Olmstead for owners Tom Maher and Amber Olmstead, will be making his season debut in the fourth trial.
The gelding ended his juvenile campaign with a five-race win streak that included victories in the September 23, $199,872 Oklahoma Horsemen's Association Mystery Futurity (R), and the November 12, $359,000 Black Gold Colts and Geldings Futurity (R), both at Will Rogers Downs.
Relentless American drew post 8 and will be ridden by Ramiro Garcia.
Sunday's 400-yard Remington Park Oaks trials have attracted 25 state-bred 3-year-old fillies, led by David P. Morehead's Flashin Dynamite.
A $30,000 purchase at the 2023 Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City, the chestnut daughter of champion First Moonflash is coming off of a 2-year-old season during which she banked $63,237 from four outs and finished second, a neck behind winner Sheza Fearless Eagle, in the September 27, $253,000 Valley Junction Futurity (G3) at Prairie Meadows.
Flashin Dynamite drew post 8 and will be ridden by Jesus Rios Ayala for trainer Manuel Campos in the second of three trials.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the April 19, $175,000-est. Remington Park Oaks final.
