Funeral Services Set Friday for Longtime Utah Horseman Ron Moosman

MORGAN, UT–SEPTEMBER 20, 2022–Ronald “Ron” Lorin Moosman, age 65, of Morgan, Utah passed away peacefully at his home on  today (September 20, 2022).

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 1 p.m. (MDT) at R/M Stables, 90 North Morgan Valley Drive, Morgan, UT.

Viewings will be on Thursday, September 22, at the Milton Church, 1255 North Morgan Valley Drive from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday at R/M Stables from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the services.

Interment will follow at the Milton Cemetery.

Ron was born on June 14, 1957 (flag day) to Ray and Arvalee Moosman in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Ron was the life of the party. His smile and laugh were contagious. He loved to talk horses with any and everyone. He ran a successful business, R/M Stables, with his wife Laurie for over 45 years. He loved all things Racehorses. From breeding to foaling mares, to running on the racetrack.

His biggest joy was being with his family. They enjoyed racing horses, hunting the Boulder Mountains and backyard BBQ’s.

Since Equibase began keeping Quarter Horse statistics in 1991, Ron saddled 516 Quarter Horse winners of more than $2.5 million. A few of his top performers included graded stakes winners Bf Lollypop, Lacey J Jr, Hoist Mission, Move With Ease, Furious Jess, Jr Corona Jazz and Were Switching Moves.

His greatest blessing was being called “Papa Moose” to his three grandchildren. There wasn’t a day he didn’t spend with them.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Laurie; children: Haylee (Brady) Woodward, Riley Moosman (Kaycee Ferrin); grandkids: Ridge, Rhett, Maclee Woodward; mother, Arvalee Moosman; stepmother, Shirley Moosman; siblings: Trudy Lupus, Bryce (Kathy) Moosman, Tina (Robbie) Conder; sister in-laws: Lori Moosman, Edrinna Moosman.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ray L. Moosman; brothers: Gary Moosman, Kay Moosman, Shawn Moosman; sisters: Christina Moosman, Trina Moosman.
