Weather Forces Cancellation Of Sweetwater Downs Futurity Trials Saturday

Inclement weather forced Sweetwater Downs officials to cancel the remainder of Saturday's 14-race program following the completion of the opening race.

The card was scheduled to feature 13 trials for the $100,000-added Sweetwater Downs Futurity, with Races 2 through 14 devoted to determining the finalists for the track's major 2-year-old event.

Only Saturday's first race was completed before racing was halted. Heza Quick Bug won the $17,000 maiden event that opened the program.

The cancellation came as showers and thunderstorms moved through the Rock Springs area Saturday.
