Blood Kiss turned back a furious late surge from India de La Nieve to prevail by a nose in Saturday night's $50,000 Lakeview Dash Stakes for accredited Louisiana-breds at Delta Downs.

Ridden by Randy Edison Jr. for trainer Jose Carrizales, Blood Kiss dueled for the lead before narrowly prevailing in the 250-yard sprint. The 4-year-old filly stopped the timer in :13.108, earning a 92 speed index over a fast racing surface.

Blood Kiss collected the $30,000 winner's share of the purse for owner Alberto Salinas. The victory increased her career record to six wins, five seconds and two thirds from 23 starts and earnings of $127,850.

Bred in Louisiana by Steel Gang Quarter Horses LLC, Blood Kiss is a daughter of champion sire Apollitical Blood from the Kiss My Hocks mare Sg Kiss Pretty Girls. She was offered at the 2023 LQHBA Yearling Sale, where she was a $33,000 RNA.

India de La Nieve surged late under jockey Eddi Emanuel Martinez but came up just a nose short in second, earning $10,000 for owner Rene Adan Rodriguez and trainer Luis R. Martinez Jr. The 5-year-old mare has now earned $182,242 from 30 starts, with seven wins, five seconds and nine thirds.

Her previous stakes accomplishments include a victory in the Delta Dash Stakes, a runner-up finish in the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile (RG2), and thirds in the French Quarter Stakes, EVD Dash and Gentilly Dash Stakes.

Bred by Jose G. Vera and Claudia Sanchez, India de La Nieve is by multiple stake sire Bp Wagon Train from Chita Deniebe, by First Streakin Lee.

Valentina Niebes finished another head back in third after breaking outward and turning in a game effort. The 3-year-old filly earned $5,500 for Rodriguez and Martinez, with Ubaldo Luna aboard. The chart confirms the nose and head margins among the first three finishers and the purse distribution.

With Saturday's result, Valentina Niebes has now made 18 starts, compiling three wins, one second and seven thirds while increasing her earnings to $67,665. She is also a finalist in the French Quarter Stakes.

Also bred by Jose G. Vera and Claudia Sanchez, Valentina Niebes is by multiple stakes sire Paint Me Perry from Chita Deniebe, by First Streakin Lee. She and runner-up India de La Nieve are maternal half-sisters.

Completing the field were Jess Transcendent, Nbc Mr Booz, Ttt La Kas, Jrs Jeeses Cartel, Konnan Cartel, San Lorenzo Bossman and Valiant Heart Z were scratched.

The Lakeview Dash Stakes was restricted to accredited Louisiana-bred Quarter Horses, 3-year-olds and older.
