Gw Lighning Strike Prevails In Cassia County Fair Paint & Appaloosa Futurity

Gw Lighning Strike APHA refused to be denied Saturday afternoon, scoring in the $6,800 Cassia County Fair Paint & Appaloosa Futurity.
Ridden by Luis Delgado, Gw Lighning Strike broke on top and maintained her advantage throughout the 250-yard event. The filly held off a late effort from Bg Dream Crusher ApHC to win by a half-length, stopping the clock in :13.636 for an 82 speed index.
Gw Lighning Strike is owned, bred and trained by Gil Wright. She is sired by Ruthies Hotrod and out of the Gw Running Faucet mare Gw Running Diamond.
Coming off a runner-up finish in the Rocky Mountain Paint and Appaloosa Classic, Gw Lighning Strike improved her record to 6-3-2-0 with earnings of $12,407.
Bg Dream Crusher ApHC finished second under Raphael Romero. The filly raced just behind the winner throughout before making a late effort, finishing a half-length back in :13.714.
Owned by Bryan Grant and trained by Erickson Wasey, Bg Dream Crusher was bred by Becky Grant. She is sired by Uncle D and out of the Lotta Loot mare Br Pleasure.
Bg Dream Crusher now has a record of 5-1-2-2 with earnings of $7,945. Earlier this season, she won the Pocatello Downs Paint & Appaloosa Futurity Division 1.
Rapid Willy APHA completed the order of finish in third under Carlos Lorta. The colt was off slowly and finished the 250 yards in :14.027.
Owned and trained by Monte Bird and bred by Miriam and Monte Bird, Rapid Willy is sired by Turnpikers Wagon and out of the Bogart's Cat mare Reckless Storm Cat. Saturday's race marked the second start of his career.
