Runnning With Faith Earns First Stakes Victory In Audubon Stakes

Runnning With Faith earned her first career stakes victory Saturday, prevailing in a tight finish in the $50,000 Audubon Stakes at Delta Downs.

Ridden by Servando Ramirez, Runnning With Faith battled gamely through the 330-yard event and prevailed by a head over a late-surging Lm Ms Apollitical. The 4-year-old filly stopped the clock in :16.751, earning a 95 speed index.

Kenneth Weeks trains Runnning With Faith for owners Raymond Loup and Lester Colomb Jr. Bred in Louisiana by Jumonville Farms, the $17,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate is sired by You Drive I Fly and out of the Fishers Dash mare Elly Mae.

Winning her second consecutive start, Runnning With Faith improved her record to 20-4-4-4, and the $30,000 winner's share boosted her career earnings to $201,832. Prior to earning her first stakes victory Saturday, she finished second in the LQHBA Sale Futurity (G1) and third in the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile.

Lm Ms Apollitical and jockey Eddi Martinez finished second for owner, trainer and breeder Luis Rosales Martinez Jr. The 3-year-old filly surged late, finishing a head behind the winner in :16.767. Sired by Apollitical Blood and out of the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Ur Louisiana Blue, she now has a record of 11-3-2-3 with earnings of $89,249. Still in search of her first stakes victory, Lm Ms Apollitical has finished third in the Louisiana Bred Lassie Futurity (G2) and was a finalist in the Lee Berwick Memorial Louisiana Bred Futurity (G1) and Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile (G2).

Jess Another Mornin finished third under Rene Hernandez for owner and breeder Live Oak Farms and trainer Danny Hoda. The 3-year-old filly dueled early before finishing a neck behind Lm Ms Apollitical in :16.803. A $20,000 repurchase at the LQHBA Yearling Sale, she is sired by Tarzanito and out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Mornin Jess. Jess Another Mornin now has a record of 14-4-3-2 with earnings of $86,668. Still seeking her first stakes victory, she entered the race off a fourth-place finish in the French Quarter Stakes and previously finished second in the LQHBA Sale Debutante Stakes.

Dynasty Blood, Ajs Louisiana Chick and Marcys Fast Train completed the order of finish. Lrh Jess Shake It Up, Marcy Train B, Patty Wagon Train and San Lorenzo Princess were scratched.
