VINTON, LA—APRIL 19, 2017—Capitan Jimbob, a graded stakes-placed son of Desirio owned by Felix J. Martinez, is one of 54 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 330-yard Old South Futurity trials at Delta Downs.
Capitan Jimbob is coming off of a second-place finish, a neck behind winner Together To The End, in the 300-yard, $234,000 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity (G3) at Louisiana Downs on March 22. The colt has earned $41,508 from two outs.
Capitan Jimbob drew post 7 and will be ridden by Modesto Pina in the second of six Old South trials.
Bobby D. Cox’s Emnent, a homebred Dominyun gelding trained by Kenneth Roberts Sr., drew post 9 and will be ridden by David Alvarez in the sixth heat. Emnent will be stretching out in distance off of his fourth-place finish in the Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the May 13, $25,000-added Old South Futurity final.
