VINTON, LA—APRIL 17, 2018—The 350-yard, $40,000 Louisiana Purchase Stakes (R) and nine 330-yard Old South Futurity trials dominate Saturday’s 10-race program at Delta Downs.
Gerardo M. Morales’ Punctuality, a 5-year-old daughter of Jet Black Patriot trained by Juan A. Carrillo Jr., is one of 10 state-bred sprinters entered in the Louisiana Purchase Stakes, which is restricted to state-breds who have not won a stakes race. Punctuality will be making her first start since January 27, when she ran third, a half of a length behind winner La Mos Corona, in the 350-yard, $25,000 Party Girl Stakes (R) for Louisiana-bred fillies and mares at Louisiana Downs.
Punctuality drew post 6 and will be ridden by David Alvarez.

Also on Saturday, a total of 84 2-year-olds has been entered in nine 330-yard Old South Futurity trials. KR Mr Winter, a finalist in the 300-yard, $238,000 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity (G3) at Louisiana Downs on March 21, drew post 5 and will be ridden by Jose A. Rodriguez in the fourth heat. Trained by Guadalupe Garza Jr. for owner Mario Villarreal, the brown son of champion Carters Cartel has earned $5,561 from two outs.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the May 12, $25,000-added Old South Futurity final.
