Crowded Field of First Year Young Guns Enters Stallion Market in 2012 — CORRECTED STORY

DALLAS, TX—JANUARY 5, 2012—A crowded field of more than 20 colts will enter stallion barns during the upcoming 2012 season. Grade 1 winner One Sweet Jess will hold court for the top fee of $5,000, 2011 Champion of Champions winner Good Reason Sa will stand for $4,000, while two stallions, champion 2-year-old American Runaway and Grade 1 placed Dominyun, will each stand for $3,500.

Eight first year stallions' fees have been set at the $2,500 level, two at $2,000, three at $1,500, three at $1,250 and three for $1,000. One stallion will be private treaty.

Following is a synopsis of incoming stallions (alphabetical from highest to lowest fees) that we are currently aware of:

ONE SWEET JESS

Golden State Million Futurity(G1) winner One Sweet Jess will stand the 2012 season at Burns Ranch near Menifee, California. His fee has been set at $5,000.

The 3-year-old, by leading living sire of money earners Mr Jess Perry, kicked off his 3-year-old year by posting a 400 yard Los Alamitos track record in the El Primero Del Ano trials, before going to Ruidoso Downs for the summer season.

Owned by Jose and Gustavo De La Torre, One Sweet Jess has won or placed in 13 of 19 career starts, earning $953,592. He also won the Ed Burke Juvenile Stakes and was second in the Los Alamitos Super Derby(G1). He qualified to the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity(G1), All American Derby(G1), Ruidoso Derby(G1) and El Primero Del Ano Derby(G2).

The royally bred athlete out of One Sweet Dash, a Grade 3 winning full sister to 2011 Leading Sire of Money Earners Walk Thru Fire. An earner of $81,937, One Sweet Dash is the dam of 6 ROM, two stakes winners including track record setter Hes A Standout ($45,402). She is also the granddam of stakes-placed Tres Fast Again.

One Sweet Jess' second dam is the "Blue Hen" Beduino (TB) mare Sweet Beduino. GOOD RESON SA

Leading contender for year-end championship honors Good Reason Sa will enter stud in 2012 atRoyal Vista Ranches, near Wayne, Oklahoma, for a fee of $4,000.

Owned by leading Brazilian breeder, Gianni Samaja, Good Reason Sa won the $750,000 Champion of Champions(G1) in his final career start on December 10th. A grade 1 winner all three years he raced, the brown 4-year-old stallion is a 7-time winner of $1,446,727. Good Reason Sa also won the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity(G1), Golden State Derby(G1) and the Los Alamitos Winter Championship(G2). Trained throughout his career by AQHA Racing's 8-time champion trainer Paul Jones, he was just named 2011 "Horse of the Meet" at Los Alamitos.

Good Reason Sa is the son of 1997 Thoroughbred Horse of the Year Favorite Trick. Favorite Trick was brilliant in his championship two-year-old season, going eight-for-eight with wins in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) and Hopeful Stakes (G1). He retired after his sophomore year with 12 wins in 16 starts for earnings of $1,726,793. The son of Phone Trick retired to Walmac Farm in Lexington and also served a stint in Florida before being moved to JEH Stallion Station in Hondo, New Mexico.

Favorite Trick is the sire of over $3.85 Million in Quarter Horse offspring earnings, including Quarter Horse runners Tricky Dust (12-time stakes winner, $428,581), Favorite Cartel (Grade 1 winner, $598,069), and Prankster CF (AQHA Racing's Champion Distance Horse, $230,013). He has also sired more than $17 million in Thoroughbred progeny earnings.

Good Reason Sa is out of the stakes winning First Down Dash mare Queen Of Appeals ($83,988), dam of 10 ROM and 9 winners. She also produced stakes winner Appeals King Special ($53,736); stakes placed winner Special Queen Sa ($229,720, dam of G1 winner Fantastic Corona Jr $541,896); Golden State Futurity(G1) finalist First Jess Appeal ($74,775); and grade 1 finalist Get Him Out Sa ($37,874).

Good Reason Sa’s second dam is G1 stakes winner Totally Illegal $147,160, dam of grade 3 winner Illegal Fireworks ($181,847), restricted grade 3 winner Rumor Had It ($68,552), and grade 3 winner Lawful ($68,043).

AMERICAN RUNAWAY

Last year's Champion 2-year-old and Champion 2-year-old Colt American Runaway will kickoff his stallion career in 2012 at Chad Hart's Hart Farms near Kaplan, Louisiana. His fee has been set at $3,500.

Purchased in the 2009 Heritage Place Yearling Sale by Sammy and Johnny Martinez, the gray stallion began his championship campaign with a second place effort (by a nose) to Llano Teller in the $596,041 Grade 1 Remington Park Futurity.

He then moved to the mountain, winning the Grade 1 $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity and finishing second (by a nose ) in the Grade 1 $625,000 Rainbow Futurity. Bobby D. Cox purchased a half-interest in the colt prior to the Ruidoso Futurity(G1).

American Runaway ended the season with another second place effort (by a head) in the $1 million Texas Classic Futurity(G1) at Lone Star Park.

The colt, by champion Ocean Runaway, won or placed in 12 of 15 career starts, earning $686,355. Cox purchased the remaining interest in American Runaway over the summer. Paul Jones and John Buchannan conditioned the colt.

Bred in Utah by Lance Robinson, American Runaway is out of the Grade 2 Strawfly Special mare Allamericandreamgirl, dam of 100% ROM from five starters. She is a daughter of two-time AQHA Racing Champion filly and multiple champion producer Dashing Phoebe (609,553), by Dash For Cash.

Allamericandreamgirl is a half-sister to four-time Champion and All American Futurity winner Heartswideopen ($1,885,283), champion Special Phoebe ($139,963), Grade 3 winner Furyofthewind ($70,553), Grade 3 winner Dashingfordestiny ($56,961), restricted Grade 3 winner Solid Demand ($35,842) and stakes-placed Especially Phoebe ($23,842). A homebred for Cox, the son of leading living sire of money earners Mr Jess Perry won or placed in nine of 11 starts to 3, 2011. An earner of $336,181, he was second in the Ruidoso Derby(G1), third in the All American Futurity(G1) and third in the Dash For Cash Futurity(G1). He was also a finalist in the Rainbow Derby(G1) and Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge(G3).

His dam is the Runaway Winner mare Runaway Dee Dee, dam of 10 ROM, nine winners and three stakes horses. BODACIOUS DASH

Johnny Trotter's Grade 1 winning Bodacious Dash will begin his stallion career at 6666 Ranch near Guthrie, Texas in 2012. His fee has been set at $2,500.

Bred in Texas by Bob and Jerry Gaston, the son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash won or placed in 13 of 16 starts to 3, while earning $756,495. At 2, he won the $1.1 million Texas Classic Futurity(G1) and was third in the Ruidoso Futurity. As a three 3-year-old he finished second to probably world Champion Cold Cash 123 in the Rainbow Derby(G1) and the Championship at Sunland Park(G1) and was third in the Ruidoso Futurity(G1). A full sister to Bodacious Dash, Native Tea Rose, sold in the 2011 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale for $330,000.

He won the Ed Burke Million Futurity(G1), California Breeders' Freshman Stakes and was third in the PCQHRA Breeders' Futurity(G1). He was also a finalist in the Sgt. Pepper Feature Handicap.

Burns Ranch, near Menifee, California, will stand Abigail Kawananakoa’s Divide The Cash in 2012. His fee has been set at $2,500.

The reigning 350 yard track record holder at Los Alamitos won one of the two divisions of the Directors trials last season and he went on to finish third to Apollitical Jess in the Champion of Champions(G1).

Trained by Rafael Orozco, Divide The Cash dead-heated for second with track record holder Chivalry SR in the Vessels Maturity(G1) and finished second to champion Jess You And I in the $150,000 Robert Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational Championship(G1).

The Separatist 4-year-old has won or placed in 16 of 20 career starts, earning $448,643. He also won the Make It Anywhere Handicap and was second in the Los Alamitos Super Derby(G1).

Divide The Cash is out of the Grade 1 winning Dash For Cash mare Time For Royal Cash ($313,583), winner of both the Golden State Futurity(G1) and Golden State Derby(G1). She is the dam of three other stakes horses including Time For A Royal Dip ($72,979), Time For Streaking and Separate Royal Ways.

The second dam is former two-time Broodmare of the Year, Timeto Takeoff ($76,002), dam of two-time champion Royal Down Dash (20 wins, $405,384).

EUROEARS(TB)

Millionaire Grade 1 sprinter Euroears retired from racing and will begin his stud career at JEH Stallion Station's Oklahoma Division near Wynnewood in 2012. His fee has been set at $2,500 for Quarter Horse mares and $4,500 to Thoroughbreds.

Owned by Jim and Marilyn Helzer, the 7-year-old chestnut stallion won or placed in 14 of 21 starts while earning $1,043,894. He won the Grade 1 $250,000 Bing Crosby Stakes on July 31, 2011 while setting a new 6 furlong track record at Del Mar in 1:08.17. He was also second in the Grade 1 $2.5 million Dubai Golden Shaheen Stakes at the Dubai World Cup and competed in the $1.5 million Sentinet Jet Breeders' Cup Sprint(G1) in Louisville this season.

Among Euroears other stakes wins are the Palos Verdes Stakes(G2), Duncan F. Kenner Stakes, F.W. Gaudin Memorial Stakes, Colonel Power Stakes and Thanksgiving Handicap. He was also second in the Texas Mile(G3) and third in the Lone Star Park Handicap(G3). He ran the quarter in 21 and change 10 times and earned a 110 Beyer Speed Figure. Bob Baffert, an Eclipse Award winning former Quarter Horse trainer, conditioned him this season.

His sire is Canadian Sprint champion Langfuhr ($698,574), a son of Danzig. Racing for Joel Tavarez, the son of Coronas Prospect won or placed in 13 of 17 career starts to 3, earning $648,650. He won the Hobbs America Futurity(G2), Hobbs America Derby(G2) and West Texas Derby(G3). He was second in the 2011 All American Derby(G1), to Llano Teller, and third in the Southwest Juvenile Championship(G1). Grade 3 winner Schramsberg (TB) will begin his stallion career at James Ranch near Wayne, Oklahoma in 2012. His fee will be $2,500 to both Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses.

Racing for Bobby Joe Hammer, Schramsberg won or placed in seven stakes from 3 to 6, retiring with earnings of $394,626. He won the John B. Connally Turf Cup Handicap(G3), Remington Green Stakes and Omaha Stakes. He was second in the Zia Park Distance Championship, Sunland Park Handicap and third in the Edward J. DeBartolo Memorial Handicap. He was also a finalist in the Grade 3 Cornhusker Handicap and Grade 3 River City Handicap. He was named the 2011 Horsemen's Park 'Horse of the Meet'. Chris Hartman trained the 2006 chestnut horse.

Bred by Bob and Beverly Lewis, Schramsberg' was a $1.4 million Kenneland September Sale yearling.

His sire Storm Cat has progeny earnings of $126.7 million and was the leading sire in North America in 1999 and 2000. He is the sire of such leading sires as Horse of the Year Giants Causeway ($3,078,989), etc.

Schramsberg's dam is the Hall of Fame champion 3-year-old filly Serena's Song, by Rahy. She won 18 races, $3,283,383, including the Mother Goose(G1), Haskell Invitational(G1), Hollywood Starlet(G1), Santa Anita Oaks(G1), Beldame(G1), etc. She is the dam of eight winners, five stakes winners including Grade 2 winner Grand Reward ($545,844) and Grade 1 winner Sophisticat ($443,393), both full siblings to Schramsberg. Grade 2 winner The Louisiana Cartel will stand his first season in 2012 at Haddad Ranch near Seguin, Texas. His fee will be $2,000.

Unraced at 2, the multiple stakes winning son of leading sire Corona Cartel is owned by Jorge Haddad. He won or placed in eight of 10 career starts at 3 and 4 while earning $127,941. He won the Sam Houston Championship Challenge(G2), Sam Houston Classic Handicap(G2) and was third in Firecracker Derby. The Louisiana Cartel was injured in his final start, the $100,000 Remington Park Invitational Championship(G1).
