LOS ALAMITOS, CA—MAY 24, 2013— Twenty one 2-year-olds, including five runners that have already competed in futurity trials, will be in action in Sunday’s trials to the $61,600 Los Alamitos Claiming Stakes at 350 yards.

First post time is 5:15 p.m. with three Claiming Stakes trials making up the final Pick Three sequence on the nine race card. The horses with the 10 fastest times in the trials will return for the Claiming Stakes final on Saturday, June 15.

The first trial will feature Balgo Racing Team Inc’s Alota Cartel, who is the only horse in the trials that has previously visited the Los Alamitos winner’s circle. The filly by Carters Cartel won against a field of $16,000 maiden claimers on May 12. Santiago Mendez will ride for trainer Guillermo Morales. Martha Wells’ Fly Dubai and Ceasar Jesus Lopez’s Beat Down Bully will compete in this trial after previously racing in futurity trials at Turf Paradise in mid April.

The second trial will feature Lisa Anderson’s Chicks On Wings and Cina and John Sperry’s Miss Four Ones, a pair of fillies that competed in the Kindergarten trials in their last starts. Ed Allred’s Think About It, who ran second to Alota Cartel in his last start, will also race in this trial.

The final trial will feature Jaime Gomez’s She Pays Dividends, who finished second to Kindergarten Futurity winner Glitter In My Face in their racing debut on April 14. She Pays Dividends also competed in the Kindergarten trials. EG High Desert Farms’ Mozilla is one of six other contenders in the final Claiming Stakes trial.
