Heza Dasha Fire Headlines A Full Night Of Trials To Meet’s Richest Race

LOS ALAMITOS, CA— NOVEMBER 22, 2014—The trials to the Grade 1 $2,078,775 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity will kick off with the most anticipated match up of the season, as the phenomenal Heza Dasha Fire, winner of the first two legs of the $1 million Los Alamitos Cash Bonanza, will face the powerful PCQHRA Breeders Futurity winner BF Farm Boss in Sunday’s first of 13 trials at 400 yards.

First post time is 5 p.m.

To be ridden by Cruz Mendez for owner/breeder S-Quarter K LLC, Heza Dasha Fire is hoping to become only the third horse to have a chance to win the Los Alamitos Cash Bonanza. The winner of the Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity and Grade 1 Golden State Million Futurity, Heza Dasha Fire needs to win the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity final on December 14 to become the first horse ever to win the Los Alamitos Cash Bonanza, which is the track’s version of the Triple Crown. Heza Dasha Fire would earn his connections a $1 million cash bonus with a victory in the Los Alamitos Two Million final.

Heza Dasha Fire arrives to this all important trial with an unbeaten record in five starts. No horse has come to within a half-length of him at the wire, although the son of Walk Thru Fire had to work very hard to overcome getting pinballed at the start of the Golden State Million final. Heza Dasha Fire fought his way out of trouble and then went on to win the Golden State Million by a half-length to put himself in a position to win the Los Alamitos Cash Bonanza.

Only champions Hawkish and Higher Fire have been part of the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity with still a chance to win the track’s Triple Crown. Higher Fire came the closest, as she finished second to Value The Man in the 2004 Los Alamitos Two Million final.

Nine years later and Heza Dasha Fire has the opportunity to make history. Already a winner of $820,352, Heza Dasha Fire won his first three races by comfortable daylight margins. He won the first leg of the Los Alamitos Cash Bonanza - the Ed Burke Million Futurity - by1¼ lengths.

Owned by Don and Peggy Boyle, BF Farm Boss has posted some of the most impressive victories by a 2-year-old this season. He won the PCQHRA Breeders Futurity after breaking sixth in the field of 10, but then flew in the second half of the race to defeat Corona Chick Handicap winner A Goddess Thru Fire in the futurity final. BF Farm Boss won his trial to the Breeders Futurity by a jaw dropping 2 1/4 length margin and before that he scored a 1 1/4 length win in a trial to the All American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs. The Hawkinson colt has won five of seven starts this season, including his last three in a row. Ramon Sanchez will ride BF Farm Boss for trainer Paul Jones.

The opening trial will also feature Golden State Million Futurity finalists Oneapolliticalflight and Streakin Regard. Rancho El Cabresto’s Oneapolliticalflight was second to Heaa Dasha Fire in the Ed Burke Million Futurity earlier this season. The filly by One Famous Eagle has won over $196,000 in her six-race career. Streakin Regard was second to Heza Dasha Fire in their trial to the Golden State Million. He has a troubled break in the final, but finished nicely to cross the wire in fifth place for owner Armando Fernandez Rivera. Cash Rate Handicap winner Old Six Six, who won his Golden State Million trial, is another runner to watch in this star loaded event.

The horses with the 10 fastest times in the trials will advance to the Los Alamitos Two Million to be held here on Sunday, December 14. The winner of the Los Alamitos Two Million will earn $842,425 plus $25,000 to the nominators of the winning horse. The Los Alamitos Two Million is the richest race of the 2014 Quarter Horse season.

The second trial will include Reliance Ranches LLC’s Corona Cartel gelding BP Corona Takes All, while PCQHRA Breeders Futurity finalist Run By You will be in action in the third trial. Autumn Handicap winner BP First Class, Golden State Million finalist Runaway Fire, and Ed Burke Million Futurity finalist Hot Shot will take on recent impressive maiden winner Dutcher in the fourth heat, while the fifth heat will be led by Rancho El Cabresto’s Apollitical Blood. The Apollitical Jess colt ran fifth in the Ed Burke Million, fourth in the All American Futurity and was second in the Golden State Million final. He’s earned over $400,000 in seven outings this year. Golden State Million finalists Corona The Cat and Straw Dawg will also compete.

Bodacious Eagle, who qualified to all three Triple Crown races in Ruidoso over the summer, will start in the 6th trial.

The sixth race will feature a clash between accomplished invaders Bodacious Eagle and Jess Walking Thru. Johnny Trotter’s Bodacious Eagle will be making his Los Alamitos debut in the sixth race of the night after a sensational campaign at Ruidoso Downs. The gelding by One Famous Eagle qualified to all three of the major futurities this season in New Mexico, including a third place finish in the Ruidoso Futurity to Kiss My Hocks. Trained by Cody Joiner, Bodacious Eagle won all three of his futurity heats at Ruidoso Downs. Ricky Ramirez will ride Bodacious Eagle from post one.

Trained by Mike Robbins for Ross Roark and Gary and Linda Gordon, Jess Walking Thru was outstanding in the Dash For Cash Futurity in her last start at odds of 28-1. The Walk Thru Fire filly makes her Los Alamitos debut with her usual pilot Jose Amador Alvarez in the irons. Futurity finalists Off Beat, Chicanery, BP Down South, and Princess Pily will also participate.

Ed Allred’s Corona Cartel colt Cartels Big Gun, who looked great when scoring a maiden victory in his last start, will be in action in the seventh trial, while Kindergarten fastest qualifier Zoomilicious will headline the eighth trial. Howard Nichols’ One More Card, who has finished in the top two in every one of her starts, and Ruidoso Futurity finalist Famous Corona Lady will lead the ninth trial.

The 10th trial will feature a pair of multiple futurity finalists in Luv Supreme and Kickin Your Can, plus Ed Burke Million finalist Wrap You Up, while the 11th heat will be led by Governor’s Cup Futurity third place finisher He Looks Hot.

The 12th trial is one of the deepest of the night, as it will include two-time futurity finalist Wild Sixes Cartel, Ed Burke Million third place finisher Forget It, and Kindergarten Futurity finalists Viento Negro and Pink Berreta.

The 13th and final heat will be led by All American trial winner Sass Me Blue and Governor’s Cup finalist No Arizona.
