Second Ruidoso Select Session Sees $300,000 High Seller

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—SEPTEMBER 3, 2016—Led by Hip 246 Eye Am King, who brought $300,000, prices picked up Saturday night during the second session of the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale at Ruidoso Downs.

Through two nights the industry's leading annual sale venue saw 221 head gross $7,517,200 for an average of $34,014. The median price is $25,000 through two sessions.

HWD Racing paid $300,000 for Eye Am King, a Mr Jess Perry colt out of the Golden State Million Futurity(G1) winner Eye For Corona, by Corona Cartel. MJ Farms, Agent consigned the brother to stakes winner and G1 finalist Dr Jess and half-brother to G2 winner Ultimate Wave and G2-placed Eye For FDD.

The first foal from AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-Old Filly Kates Dynasty, Hip 255 One Mighty Eagle, sold for $210,000 to Shirley Richardson. Juliana Hawn Holt consigned the son of leading sire One Famous Eagle. Kates Dynasty, a daughter of FDD Dynasty, won the Texas Classic Futurity(G1) and earned $572,882 to 3.

The third highest seller from Saturday's session was Hip 211 Call Me Cole, a Corona Cartel colt out of stakes winner Little Surfer, by First Down Dash. Reliance Ranches, LLC signed the $150,000 ticket for the brother to stakes-placed Rip Tide and G1 finalist Corona Surfer. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for McColee Land & Livestock LLC was the consignor.

Through two sessions Reliance Ranches, LLC is the sale's leading buyer with four purchases grossing $400,000. HWD Racing has three head for $355,000, Paragaon Farms, LLC paid $276,000 for six yearlings and Julian Ramirez bought three yearlings totaling $212,000.

Juliana Hawn Holt leads the consignors and agents thru two sessions with nine head for $559,000 gross. MJ Farms, Agent has seven head for $555,000, Bobby D. Cox sold 15 yearlings for $515,000. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent had 16 head gross $496,500 and Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for McColee Land & Livestock LLC had six head for $338,500.

Through two sessions, leading sire Mr Jess Perry leads the sale sires of yearlings (by average with two or more selling) with 18 head for $60,167. Leading living sire of money earners Corona Cartel had 17 head average $53,118 and One Famous Eagle saw 28 yearlings average $45,000.

Champion Hez Our Secret is the leading "first crop sale sire", thru two sessions, with three head averaging $18,333.
